As a senior HR Technology analyst for Benefits, you will be critical to our transition from Peoplesoft to Workday, UKG (Kronos) and ServiceNow, serving as a strategic partner to our Benefits-related teams, ensuring our technology solutions for benefits are optimally configured and executed, and our vendor interactions are fully supported. Accuracy, attention to detail and commitment to quality are of paramount importance in ensuring Xcel’s ability to deliver upon obligations to support our employee population through best-in-class benefits programs. You’ll also liaise with the broader team supporting our HR systems to ensure effective integration with other workstreams, including Core HR, Payroll and Compensation.

What you’ll do

  • Ensure accurate and timely execution of benefit plans through Workday and UKG, infusing quality checks into processes to achieve zero errors and to minimize audit risk

  • Manage, maintain and evolve configuration of benefits processes within technology systems; manage data loads into internal and external systems as needed

  • Partner with integrations developers to build, test and maintain the suite of benefits integrations

  • Ensure technology solutions are aligned with SOX and other compliance requirements, audit practices and overall governance strategy

  • Investigate and troubleshoot system issues, identify root causes, and determine and document solutions

  • Coordinate and support vendor engagement through project implementations, product releases and updates, as well as production issues

  • Streamline business processes through automation and align processes with technology

  • Provide technical and functional support including system maintenance, reports, queries, interfaces and security

  • Document processes to ensure ease of reference

  • Support development and maintenance of training and communications materials

  • Analyze data and information to recommend, create and carry out data analysis and process improvement opportunities

  • Research system functionality and roadmap to ensure maximum utilization of technology solutions

  • Promote the strategic vision for technology, and integrate processes with overall technology strategy

  • Drive the execution of our technology roadmap that enhances HR value offerings through expanded capability, increased ease of use and user adoption, and greater efficiency, accuracy, and compliance

  • Partner with SMEs and peers internally, and vendors externally, to improve processes and gain efficiencies

What we look for

We’re interested in intellectually curious people, with a genuine passion for finding and implementing innovative, progressive ways to tackle complex issues. In addition:

  • Minimum 6 years’ professional experience, including 4 years working directly with HCM technologies to support HR and business objectives, including configuration and administration of business processes

  • Workday experience preferred

  • 4+ years’ experience in Benefits, including 401(k) and retirement plans strongly preferred

  • Practical and proven experience with inbound and outbound vendor interface files

  • Knowledge of Xcel Energy’s benefits plans preferred

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills; the ability to convey technical concepts to those without technical backgrounds.

  • A highly collaborative approach to tackling work; ability to build trust and establish credibility; an orientation to building and nurturing cross-functional relationships.

  • Ability to influence without authority at all levels and across all areas of the organization.

  • Effective project management skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent strands of a project, track status and project milestones and provide timely updates to stakeholders.

  • A positive outlook; ability to work through ambiguity, roadblocks and complexity to drive to project milestones and deliverables.

  • An openness to change and innovation; a willingness and desire to adopt new ways of doing things in order to achieve objectives, improve upon current state and promote employee experience

  • Ability to receive and process feedback, and pivot as needed

  • Action- and solution-orientation; willing to jump in to contribute outside of the standard swim lane to support the team

  • Analytical thinker with the ability to understand problems, determine root causes and recommend appropriate solutions

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

During COVID-19 Pandemic this position may require the ability to temporarily work remote within the company service territory until company protocol dictates return to the office criteria has been met.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $72,100 to $102,433 per year
