Solution Architect - Advanced Meter Infrastructure and Grid Monitorization

Salary Range: $107,000 - $188,600

Location: Columbus, OH or Merrillville, IN

The Solution Architect primary responsibility and accountability is to provide architecture leadership for the current and future NiSource technology environment within a technology domain. Specifically, Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) technology for both gas and electric projects.

In this role you will work with business leaders and service providers to develop and implement enterprise architecture strategies, as well as developing methodologies and processes to ensure compliance to those strategies. The solution architect will work with Enterprise Architects to develop and maintain Technology Roadmaps aligned with approved IT Investments and approved by IT Leadership.

• Effective Technology portfolio management processes and tools used as a key input into IT investment decisions and in developing solution alternatives to meet business needs

• Proactive technology roadmaps and plans for future needs, based on anticipated business goals and industry direction

• Project architecture reviews conducted in a timely manner with appropriate level of quality (Lead Architect)

• Published up-to-date and adhered to architecture standards, frameworks, patterns and procedures

• Reduced cost of IT via effective reuse, processes and adherence to standards

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Analyze enterprise business drivers to develop enterprise architecture strategies and plans

• Research technology industry and market trends for a domain

• Develop strategies and roadmaps to deliver one AMI solution for NiSource

• Identify opportunities to invest in emerging technologies

• Collaborate closely with peer Architects and IT staff to drive NiSource objectives

• Develop standards and reference architectures for the domain

• Develop, design, artifact and work closely with service providers to build, test, and deploy AMI solutions

• Develop and maintain enterprise AMI standards

• Identify, champion and direct technology roadmap initiatives

• Establish best practices and standards and track adoption of standards

• Recommend proactive courses of action to maintain cost effectiveness and competitiveness

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree

• 5+ years of experience in delivering utility grade solutions

• 1+ years of experience in end-to-end AMI program implementation

• 1+ years of experience leading development teams through the solutioning and delivery AMI technologies

Preferred Qualifications

• Utility industry Customer Billing System, AMI , SmartGrid, Meter Device System (MDS)

• Familiarity with the standards and best practices bodies i.e. The Open Group, OMG, UML, ITIL, CoBIT, CMMi, Six Sigma/LEAN etc.

• Familiarity with Utility meter to cash solutions including data and analytics
