Director of Enterprise Data Strategy

Full Time Perm

Way of Work : Hybrid - 2 days on premise

Salary Range: $150,900 - $226,300, plus annual bonus and equity

Location: Columbus, OH

The Director of Enterprise Data Strategy is responsible and accountable for leading a team that:

  • Creates the enterprise cloud data strategy and data enablement frameworks for NiSource

  • Builds a center of excellence around data strategy (engineering, architecture, and science) to help build a long-term competency in treating data as an asset

  • Leadsmultiple functions with a focus on data engineering, architecture,and science to effectively and efficientlycurate data through NiSource’s industrialized pipeline

  • Prioritizes and manages the data ingestion backlog for IT

The Director partners with the rest of the Data & Analytics leadership team to create a unified data strategy to enable analytics to drive value with strong data integrity. The Director is also responsible for creating and maintaining partnerships with the Business Unit leaders and the IT Transformation Team.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Owns the data strategy and data enablement framework for the enterprise, people, process, policies, and technology. 

  • Builds a team of talented specialists that can navigate a fast-paced environment with the potential for frequent course changes.   

  • Identifies, analyzes, and leverages industry best practices, benchmark studies and business relationships with other utilities to measure and improve business processes 

  • Builds effective coalitions with key stakeholders at various levels across organizations in a matrixed environmentleading to better alignment and faster business value delivery. 

  • Proactively manages risks and providesoptimal performance / throughput  

  • Provides oversight to assigned project/ program management resource or leads large complex initiatives, collaborating with business leadership and managing program delivery across internal IT, third party vendors, and service providers 

  • Serves as a mentor and coach to direct reports and analytical professionals 

  • Partners and aligns with IT strategies that support an efficient, secure, cost-effective use of technology 

      

Required Qualifications for Position * *

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, data science, mathematics, statistics, economics, engineering, or a related business or quantitative discipline 

  • 10+ years total experience, including 3+ years of direct leadership experience building and managing high performing teams 

  • 5+ years in a Data and/or Analytics function

  • 5+ years of experience in technical program management including successful oversight of large, complex projects or programs that cross multiple domains

Preferred Qualifications for Position * *

  • Advanced degree in data science, math, MBA, or other related

  • Experience in building data lake strategies and data enablement frameworks

  • Experience with enterprise data modeling

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams 

  • Capable of negotiation and influence of operational teams on analytic product improvement actions 

  • Electric/Gas utility experience knowledge
