This is the first level of the Material classification. Under close supervision, this position assists with the receiving, tracking, managing, and handling of major and minor materials for distribution, transmission, and substation construction projects. Incumbents are expected to develop skills in their area of expertise and the ability to work with greater independence.

ESSENTI A L DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Ensure that all activities are in compliance with environmental, health, and safety codes and procedures.

Ensure that all activities are in compliance with warehouse procedures and practices.

Perform quality assurance/quality control activities on all incoming material.

Verify that the receipt of all material shipments is in alignment with bill of lading.

Off load vendor deliveries utilizing proper equipment.

Organize material for ease of access for inventory count, replenishment, rotation and in storage picking.

Accurately pick and assemble material and material kits per engineering drawings and construction requirements.

Deliver material and material kits to construction work site utilizing proper equipment.

Investigates discrepancies in inventory records to determine corrections needed as requested by Material Specialist or Project Manager.

Maintain proper housekeeping of warehouse or stockroom daily.

Perform other duties as assigned by management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Required High school degree or GED.

Preferred Associates degree (AA or equivalent from two-year college or technical school).

Experience

0-1 Year(s) Experience in the utility industry and in distribution, transmission, and substation work environments

CERTIFIC A T IONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Preferred Training and certification as required to operate heavy-lifting machinery, such as forklifts and cranes.

A. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

B. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret spread sheets.

A. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions.
