Cleco Mgr-Distribution Operations in Mandeville, Louisiana

Role Purpose

The Manager – Distribution Operations manages divisional construction, operation, maintenance and inspection of the electrical distribution system to meet or exceed customer requirements. Manages region field operations personnel to achieve departmental safety goals and continue to lower the number of personal injuries, vehicle accidents and incidents. Works closely with Distribution Operations Leadership Team, Engineering and other departments to assist in achieving companywide targets. Demonstrates knowledge and judgment that results in safe, efficient and timely restoration of service. Manages service restoration safely and efficiently in a timely manner. Proactive in identifying areas and creating plans to implement and reduce area SADI /SAIFI by utilizing in depth knowledge of the electrical distribution system and procedures. Assists in the development of strategic and operational maintenance/construction plans and ensures they are in line with corporate and functional strategy. Serves as a mentor for and provides day-to-day guidance to employees with maintenance/construction responsibilities.

  • Responsible to ensure team successfully attends and completes all assigned safety and training modules, including TOPI / Human Performance training programs.

  • Hold employees accountable for Work Manager, MRS, SAP utilization and work schedule adherence and system updates as they complete each step working through all orders and outages.

  • Actively manage the working relationships with other organizations in pursuit of objectives and goals.

  • Actively participate in the learning, and teaching of all distribution related processes in SAP necessary to safely and efficiently operate Cleco's distribution system.

  • Manage all district service restoration efforts, and provide storm team leadership for mutual assistance restoration efforts outside of your service territory, if requested.

  • Readily provide assistance with labor and / or equipment when called upon to share resources across the T&D organization.

  • Work with Engineering to implement the 10-year DA strategy, completing installations when and where recommended.

  • Maintain expenditures within budgeted amounts.

  • Manage the performance of team members, guide the work of technical staff, monitor progress, and hold them accountable to defined milestones.

  • Provide team members with individual and group development opportunities including training, performance planning, feedback and appraisals and general performance management.

Qualifications

Required Education, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical field, or equivalent work experience

  • Equivalent work experience is minimum of 8+ years relevant experience, with prior supervisory/management experience preferred

  • Knowledge and technical expertise in utility distribution and maintenance with an understanding of the key drivers for safe, reliable, cost effective and compliant operation Knowledge of standard business practices and professionalism

  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees to address difficult issues

  • Ability to manage high workloads and conflicting priorities

  • Ability to operate effectively and proactively with an employee-centric mindset
