Alliant Energy Manager Delivery System Planning & Electric Standards in Madison, Wisconsin

4898BRJob Responsibilities:In this role you will...

  • Ensure cost effective electric asset planning and standards consistent with corporate goals by developing and implementing an operating plan for the delivery system planning organization. This includes the vision, mission, guiding principles, goals, strategies, budget, action plans, and performance measurements.

  • Interface with transmission service providers (American Transmission Company, Interstate Transmission Company, CIPCO, etc.) for system planning and coordination.

  • Provide technical leadership services on complex electrical system problems and solutions.

  • Ensure strategic goals are reached in the development of codes, regulations, and reporting requirements by working with state and/or federal regulators.

  • Support the five-year capital investment strategy by overseeing the development, maintenance, and implementation of planning processes, capital investment criteria, and project evaluation tools. This includes reviewing capital project scopes to ensure that the planning process is followed and evaluation tools are properly utilized. Function as the approval authority on capital projects. Includes working with other organizations on the development of resource plans to include personnel, tools and equipment, capital and maintenance spending, and work level needs.

  • Manage the coordination and communication of distribution and transmission project interactions.

  • Implement cost effective electric standards policies and practices to support operating business unit processes. Oversees the development and maintenance of electric standards and reliability services. Communicates changes in a timely and effective manner.

  • Perform all management duties including, but not limited to, budgeting, hiring, performance reviews, coordinating and scheduling work, salary recommendations, discipline, ensure employees report to work fit for duty, leadership, grievance resolution, coaching and counseling, models Alliant Energy’s Core Values at all times.

In this challenging role you will provide cost effective and customer focused delivery system planning services and standards. In this role you will also be responsible for:

  • Working with multiple areas to develop and implement asset replacement strategies, reliability strategies, budget forecast, and long-range system plans.

  • Manage the relationship with various external groups to ensure the company receives reliable and cost effective service.

  • Coordinate and implement cost effective electrical services and standards policies and practices.

  • Responsible for reliability matrices, analysis and reports relating to electric system performance.

Bachelors degree in engineering or 4 years of related experience may substitute for the degree requirement. A degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.

Experience:

  • 5 years experience in large electric construction, gas and electric operations, project management, or related work.

  • Demonstrated experience planning and carrying-out engineering projects.

  • 3 years supervisory experience or equivalent (equivalent supervisory experiences may include project management,providing work direction, leadership experience through temporary assignments, roles in the community or external organizations, or other demonstrated leadership experience).

  • Experience supervising a technical group such as engineering, construction, project management or field operations.

  • Demonstrated experience working with labor union management preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills.

  • Knowledge of safety rules and applicable electric codes, Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, and Department of Transportation regulations preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the NESC, NEC and respective state regulations and the franchise process as it relates to electric supply.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering statistics theory, electrical theory, economic theory, and use of economic tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand utility maps, plan and profiles, and drawings preferred.

  • Demonstrated financial skills such as budgeting and basic accounting.

  • Working knowledge of electric, gas or steam operating practices, construction standards, work methods, equipment, maintenance practices, regulatory compliance and materials preferred.

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management). Ability to perform complex analysis using computer software programs.

  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse and inclusive environment.
