Alliant Energy Lead Financial Process Automation Analyst in Madison, Wisconsin

5199BRJob Responsibilities:

  • Completes automation use cases to analyze, observe, and understand process steps, interdependencies, and applications.

  • Identifies process gaps and re-engineers’ processes to fit an automation solution.

  • Assesses process automation feasibility and complexity to determine optimal automation solution/tool(s).

  • Liaisons with Finance functions to ensure a continuous pipeline and prioritization for the automation program.

  • Designs Robotic Process Automation (RPA) process solutions in accordance with standard RPA design principles and conventions.

  • Creates and maintains solution documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Configures new RPA processes and objects using core workflow principles that are efficient, well structured, maintainable, and easy to understand.

  • Supports the technical team during bot development and acts as a liaison between the delivery team and process experts throughout the implementation lifecycle.

  • Manages finance automation initiatives to ensure project and development requirements are met and technology solutions match business need.

  • Resolves defects and other performance problems discovered in testing.

  • Manages portfolio of finance automations in production as well as implements change requirements as part of a structured change control process.

  • Leads issue resolutions that arise in day-to-day running of RPA processes and provides timely responses and solutions as required.

  • Completes low- and no-code automations including Automation Anywhere, Microsoft Macros, Get & Transform, and BlackLine Journals.

  • Works within project planning constraints, communicates identified project risks and issues to management accordingly and provides inputs to the change control process.

Alliant Energy has an outstanding opportunity for a Lead Financial Process Automation Analyst. Using technology to transform the way we do things is a key support element of our strategy. As the finance organization transforms the way we work in support of our strategy, this newly developed role will be crucial to the evolution and success of our transformation. In this position, you will assess business processes within the Finance Department to determine suitability for automation. This will be achieved by completing use cases through liaising with IT functions, designing, creating, and documenting process automation solutions and using best practices with various tools and techniques to drive business value. You will work across Finance and IT to redesign and automate key processes, shape standards in practice, and build a sustainable automation program. This position requires high technology and business process improvement acumen, with the ability to work across various functions to drive process redesign and automation of significant processes. The individual should have a deep passion for innovation.

Initially the position location is remote and eventually will report to our office in Madison, WI, or Cedar Rapids, IA.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Finance or related area.

Required Experience

  • 8 years of accounting, finance, IT or related experience.

  • Experience providing customer-focused support, both internally and externally.

  • Experience in building positive relationships and working with peers cross-functionally, demonstrating teamwork and collaboration.

  • Experience with automation and RPA platforms.

Preferred Experience

  • Utility specific experience.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification.

  • Completion of RPA certification programs.

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work with and maintain highly confidential information.

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a development team to the successful conclusion of highly complex technology initiatives.

  • Demonstrated ability with database query tools, automating testing tools, workflow diagramming, and reporting and retention tools preferred.

  • Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work effectively when multiple priorities and timelines exist.

  • Knowledge and understanding of workflow-based logic and the ability to both understand a business process from a workflow diagram and to conceptualize it as an automated solution

  • Ability to learn quickly and progress rapidly from theoretical exercises to real world delivery

  • Ability to challenge the status quo, appropriately manage conflict, and work through difficult situations as needed

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse and inclusive work environment.
