3862BRJob Responsibilities:

  • Performs work on a variety of assignments, some of which require in-depth analysis to determine appropriate solution; uses a variety of complex tools and resources to solve problems.

  • Applies governmental and organizational engineering standards; makes recommendations for electric metering processes and procedures.

  • Provides technical support to internal departments to address electric meter technical issues, customer meter/billing accuracy, internal and external regulatory compliance analyses, and in the design of large and complex metering projects.

  • Develops relationships at the department, customer and peer level; participates on teams as assigned.

  • Explains technical problems to internal/external stakeholders and accurately prepares detailed documents such as technical studies, project documentation for future reference, etc.

  • Accesses and manipulates meter and customer data from computer systems.

  • Maintain meter documentation for transformer compensation, line loss compensation, and other metering projects.

  • Provides technical support, troubleshooting and direction to electric meter technicians for new metering installations, the repair of damaged or inaccurate metering installations, AMI technology and the creation and maintenance of metering computer programs/software systems, including technician laptop updates and software support.

  • Provides day-to-day direction and support to promote safety to electric meter/field operations personnel and technical support to electric meter safety committee and electric operations procedures committee initiatives.

  • Understands the basic need of combining technical and cost effective criteria to effectively assist in managing budgetary and schedule constraints. Including day-to-day activities impacting the meter blanket capital spending levels.

  • Proficient in various company software systems to support Electric Metering. (i.e. Meter Vendor software, CC&B, Cognos, MV90, WattNet, etc.)

  • All other duties as assigned.

This position may be filled at a higher level depending upon candidate qualifications. This position will analyze complex metering and measurement systems, review and design new metering projects.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably an Electrical Engineering degree. Additionally working knowledge of power systems and equipment such as generators, transformers, relays, switchgear and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).

  • A four year degree from a college or university, within an engineering program that is accredited through the Engineering Accreditation Commission. Specific emphasis in electrical engineering preferred.

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).

  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Preferred:

  • An internship or co-op in engineering preferred.

  • Strong project management skills

  • Working knowledge of power systems and equipment such as generators, transformers, relays, switchgear, cable, low voltage circuit breakers, motor control centers, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS)

  • Working knowledge of the electric industry

  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety codes and standards.
