BWXT is currently seeking an Industrial Health and Safety Professional for its Lynchburg, VA location!
Identifies, analyzes, and mitigates hazards through the application of industrial safety standards.
Participates in team evaluations using hazard analysis techniques such as HAZOPS, FMEA, and What-if methodologies.
Performs technical evaluations associated with new facility equipment and modifications.
Conducts routine compliance audits, inspections, and assessments of existing plant conditions and presents findings to management.
Provides technical support to line management regarding the implementation of company procedures and safety requirements and principles.
Monitors personnel, performs exposure assessments, and surveys chemical and physical hazards by conducting field observations.
Provides leadership and consultation to coworkers, and supports ESH Management.
Performs machine guarding evaluations and provides recommendations for improvement through the development of documented risk assessments.
Performs other duties as assigned.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or other applicable engineering/science field is required.
Must possess at least ten (10) years of related work experience in an industrial setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must have working knowledge of OSHA 29CFR1910 General Industry Regulations and Standards.
Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
Must possess proven ability in resolving conflict.
Ability to read floor plans and schematics with an understanding of the importance of maintaining regulatory compliance.
Current ASP or CSP certification is preferred.
Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
