BWXT is currently seeking a CNC Programmer for its Lynchburg, VA location!
This position is day shift, however, there will be times when supporting off-shift and weekend work will be required.
Generates and revises CNC machining programs for a wide variety of CNC machine tools.
Ensures all requirements identified in program requests are satisfied.
Identifies cutting tool and fixture/work-holding requirements.
Identifies manufacturing methods and works with Manufacturing Engineers to develop CNC programming solutions for metal removal operations.
Prepares program manuscripts and other required documents.
Resolves any problems encountered during manufacture.
Works with vendors and customers as necessary.
Participates on equipment upgrades and procurement teams.
Reviews and generates change requests.
Provides correction actions, supports special projects and generates cost/time estimates.
Serves on process improvement teams and supports the company’s safety and security procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
An Associate's degree plus four (4) years of experience OR a high school diploma or equivalent plus eight (8) years of practical, hands-on experience in an engineering role, machining, or similar manufacturing is required.
Previous CNC programming experience, as well as experience generating programs for a variety of controls such as Fanuc, Heidenhain, and Siemens.
Experience with spindle probes, tool probes and laser tool measurement systems is a plus.
Familiarity or experience with milling, turning equipment, and waterjet machines and wire EDMs is a plus.
Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is required.
Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Must have demonstrable skills and knowledge in the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
Must have prior experience with CNC programming software.
An in-depth knowledge of machining and metal removal operations is required.
Must have demonstrable troubleshooting and solution experience.
Previous experience with the following CAD/CAM software is a plus:
Siemens NX (both native and working within a Teamcenter database/environment).
Solid Edge (tool/fixture design).
CimPro/G-POST (APT programming and postprocessing environment)
Vericut (machine simulation and tool path verification).
Delmia Operations (DNC system).
Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
