Position Specific Description

The business services leader will report to the regional general manager leading a team and overseeing all business and financial processes for the east region.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure the health and compliance of our business and financial processes for daily plant operations and overhauls.

  • Lead technicians, analysts and clerks in ensuring execution of the corporate and Power Generation Division business processes

  • Cost Management – Budgeting, Daily Cost Management (including overhauls), Month End Close and Forecasting, and Fixed Assets Management

  • Coordinate and communicate the annual 6 year budget cycle process

  • Perform variance analysis and communicate as needed

  • Financial liaison for site and central support teams executing work at the plants.

  • Collaboration with other divisions to resolve various discrepancies related to PO pricing, invoice resolution, tax issues and vendor disputes, etc. in order to process liabilities.

  • Timekeeping and payroll related analysis and reporting to ensure accuracy.

  • Communicate monthly financial performance to central organization as well as provide plant specific performance indicators to site leadership.

  • Materials Management – Procurement and Inventory Control

  • Ensure proper inventory and stocking levels are maintained to support the daily operations and overhauls.

  • Ensure proper accounting treatment of inventory for all issues, receipts, and adjustments.

  • Work with plant personnel to ensure adherence to inventory management procedures for all goods issued and received.

  • Performing periodic cycle counts as specified by Business Unit and resolves any discrepancies to ensure accurate accounting of all inventory movement activities.

  • Procurement of goods and services under the established approval matrix.

  • Ensure parts availability for planned work

  • Daily reporting of: Issues, Returns, Surplus material, inventory counts, and reservations

  • SOX Compliance – Accruals, Fixed Assets, Procurement, Net Generation, Fuel Inventory, Inventory Management

  • Ensure Sarbanes Oxley compliance to all appropriate processes through the continuous verification of documents and periodic auditing of process through SOX self-assessments and Operational Reviews

  • Ensure standardization and use of best practices throughout Business Teams.

Job Overview

This job leads technicians and analysts in assuring execution of the Corporate and NextEra Power Generation business processes. Employees in this role are responsible for OandM and capital budget preparation and reporting, cash flow management, and financial analysis and reporting. Individuals in this job plan, schedule, communicate, and coordinate the annual budgeting process, the monthly re-forecasts, and month-end close for the site, and ensure that all transactions are in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley. Employees in this position also focus on the continuous improvement of spending, risks and opportunities, and costing methods in accordance with corporate policy and business objectives.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs all cost accounting activities including variance analysis, standard cost development, activity-based costing, and inventory control

• Provides financial leadership by supporting Operations leadership in decision-making and strategy development

• Supports new lines of business and finds ways to reduce overhead cost per job

• Provides reporting and analysis for all operations activity including productivity, capital and overhead spending, forecasting, budgeting, absorption, sales, and inventory and operations planning

• Prepares and distributes financial reports and indicators and explains financial results to non-financial audiences

• Communicates and explains operational performance through P and L

• Collaborates effectively with colleagues from all departments

• Leads and executes process improvement projects using Six Sigma principles

• Manages internal controls processes and identifies and mitigates control weaknesses

• Extracts, organizes, analyzes, and reports data in a manner that is useful and relevant for making business decisions

• Develops broad technical and communication skills through self-study and internal and external training opportunities

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

• Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience

• Experience:5+ years

• Supervisor/Management Experience:2+ years
