LG&E and KU Energy Technology Research & Analysis Intern in Louisville, Kentucky


Job Description:

  • Plans and controls all activities so as to provide an accident-free work place.

  • Uses engineering and scientific principles to plan projects, collect and analyze data, and create professional reports.

  • Gathers, correlates, and analyzes data using established procedures.

  • Coordinates and communicates results and participation in research projects within applicable business units and prepares summaries of value and results to management.

  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and/or suggests improved methods.

  • Performs detailed and/or engineering assignments involving established calculations, tests and analysis.

  • Performs other duties as directed by management.

Physical Effort:

Some positions might require ability to work in adverse climate conditions and physical nature of work may require climbing in and out of mills, boilers and walking on grated sidewalks up to 50 feet in the air.

Work Conditions:

Office, field, or plant environment.

Required Education & Experience:

Pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in engineering, chemistry, or related field, with a minimum GPA of 2.50.

Position Purpose:

The Technology Research and Analysis Department is looking for an intern passionate about renewable energy, solar power, electrification, energy storage, and data science. Successful interns will have excellent technical and leadership skills and the ability to effectively apply those skills in an industrial environment. We are looking for highly creative individuals to be responsible, driven, and capable of independent work, excellent interpersonal & communication skills, and a track record of personal success throughout their academic and work career(s). Interns will also be given broad exposure to LG&E and KU's business, engineering, and marketing functions and spend time at our facilities across Kentucky, including Kentucky’s largest solar farm and largest lithium-ion battery.
