LG&E and KU Energy Programmer/Analyst - Associate or Intermediate in Louisville, Kentucky


Job Description:

Supports systems and technologies used by corporate lines of business including: PeopleSoft Human Capital Management, OpenText Enterprise Content Management , Cherwell IT Service Management, AssetWorks Fleet Management, Coursemill Learning Management

Interacts with internal clients to determine functional requirements or operating concerns at a conceptual level. Coordinates with more experienced personnel to fully outline needed steps to achieve desired results.

Assists in the development of user instructions, training procedures and other support requirements. Assists in the preparation and maintenance of system documentation.

Assists in preparing detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Designs, codes, tests, debugs document and maintains simple programs.

Works on select phases of applications systems analysis, configuration, and programming. Requires instruction and assistance on more complex tasks.

Develops and maintain custom interfaces between applications using modern design techniques and technologies. Participates in the evaluation of hardware and software technologies.

Effectively communicates with clients, peers and departmental management in business matters inclusive of those with technical content. Blends technical and non-technical perspectives in verbal and written communications, focusing on the underlying business benefit and/or impact of proposed action.

Follows IT Service Management processes and may serve in the capacity of Change Advisory Board member.

Provides input for quality assurance review of projects assigned.

Participates in a variety of departmental and corporate activities designed to enhance the incumbent’s knowledge of automation, communication, computing concepts, new technologies and the business.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with SQL, relational databases, object-oriented programming, web development, and web services.

Knowledge of scripting and automation is a plus.

A successful academic or work background indicating a demonstrated ability to absorb information, apply conceptual skills in practical applications, and achieve desired results in a highly technical, operating environment. Ability to effectively deal with the rapid technological and business change while maintaining enthusiasm and displaying sound judgment and common sense.

Work Conditions:

Normal office environment with some visits to fields locations.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline. Zero years of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis, is required.
