Job Description:

Develops and executes strategies to address the energy needs and options for large commercial and industrial customers. Builds and maintains strong relationships with customer segment and establishes credibility as source of energy services and solutions. Utilizes relationship skills to connect with executives and managers of key account customers. Encourages a business development mindset within the department by teaching best in class sales practices. Assists the Director of the Department in Economic Development projects and presents features and benefits of LKE service territory in clients’ new location and expansion decisions. Communicates engineering information in laymen’s terms to prospects. Assesses and refines departmental strategies to develop a service model to meet emerging customer needs as the utility industry continues to evolve into the demand side integrated space. Develops and directs staff as energy consultants providing strategic guidance, facilitation and communication with customers. Works to ensure a positive Customer Experience through prompt and accurate handling of customer communications and interactions. Takes appropriate action to maximize customer satisfaction. Develops expertise in tariffs, rates, regulations, policies and energy programs applicable to the customer segment to provide guidance to staff in the delivery of business services to assigned accounts and in collaboration with other areas of company to address customer issues and requests. Refines business processes to ensure customer’s time frames are respected and business proposals are given in a timely fashion. Analyzes data to provide value added energy proposals and solutions to address customer needs. Collaborates with other company departments for the development and delivery of energy solutions to the customer segment. Develops and maintains effective relationships with internal stakeholders (such as Rates and Regulatory, Electric Distribution Operations, Gas Operations, Energy Planning and Analysis and Forecasting, External Affairs) and external stakeholders (large industrial and commercial customers, government officials, etc.). Possesses strong understanding of regulatory/legislative initiatives that impact the gas and electric industry, utility regulation (Federal and State) and reliability policies and procedures. Stays abreast of emerging utility energy trends and technologies to ensure effective quality solutions for customers on energy projects/solutions. Administers internal affairs of the department staff to advance the Company’s Customer Experience and Energy Partner strategies. Works to ensure a positive Customer Experience through prompt and accurate handling of customer communications and interactions. Takes appropriate action to maximize customer satisfaction. Represents the Company within constituent communities and serves on boards, advisory committees and task forces as a voice for the company. Establishes and administers annual department budget. Maximizes career development of all employees by providing counsel, personal development opportunities, specific training and timely feedback regarding work performance. Coordinates efforts of assigned staff toward achieving corporate, organizational and team goals. Performs other duties as may be assigned by management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Should possess excellent interpersonal ability to handle the communicative aspects of this job including relationship building with internal and external stakeholders.

Work Conditions:

Normal office environment. Some travel required. Customer site and plant visits – subject to dirt, heat, noise, fumes, etc.

Required Education & Experience:

Engineering degree required with an advanced degree in business (MBA) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Eight or more years of related experience. Demonstrated experience working with senior executives in large businesses/commercial/ industrial area. Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data. Solid strategic thinker with capability to identify and address customer expectations in a changing energy environment.

Position Purpose:

This position is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of Business Services related to the Company’s large commercial and industrial customers as well as new potential clients. This includes customer relationship management, educating customers on regulations, tariffs and all Company-offered products and services. This position utilizes relationships built with customers to provide them maximum value and to develop new offerings and strategies based on their needs.
