This position can be located at any operations complex in the North Central Zone or South Central Zone in Florida. The exact location will be determined at the time of offer based on business needs.

The Senior Engineering Technologist position is the fourth level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role. The Senior Engineering Technologist provide technical expertise to solve more complex problems, and leadership skills to manage work in a specific area of expertise, with minimal supervision. Employees in the Senior Engineering Technologist position are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently with increased latitude for un-reviewed work.

Responsibilities

  • Provides subject matter technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise.

  • Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities,

  • Independently prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches,

  • Conducts engineering and related studies,

  • Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance,

  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities,

  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills,

  • Maintains accurate records and files,

  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally, and

  • Coaches and mentors other Engineering Technologists

Basic/Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of relevant industry experience and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 8+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 12+ years equivalent work experience and and a High School Diploma/GED.

  • Valid Driver's License

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Experience in the electric utility industry.

  • Proficient in applying principles of project management.

  • Experience in electric distribution design.

  • Experience with Maximo software.

  • Experience with BOUD software

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to the posted Duke Energy facility.

Specific Requirements

  • To meet basic qualifications a candidate must have either 6+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 8+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 12+ years equivalent experience without a degree.
