NMPP Energy, located in Lincoln, Nebraska is seeking a Distributed Resource & Generation Specialist to join our dynamic team. Use your skills, experience, and talents to provide analysis and recommendations related to distributed generation, interconnection agreements, rate structures and services.
The Distributed Resource & Generation Specialist supports the mission of NMPP Energy by:
Providing analysis, recommendations, requests for proposals, project management and continuing support to member communities on distributed generation.
Working in conjunction with staff to implement Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) service to member communities and by evaluating and proposing a system, assisting with design and development, overseeing implementation and maintenance of the installed system. Supporting the assessment and development of other services as they are proposed and evaluated.
Working in partnership with member communities to develop interconnection policies for distributed generation. Responding to requests for information on interconnection requirements and net metering.
Attending and deliver presentations and policy information for periodic meetings with member communities including town and local officials, utility staff, and retail customers.
Maintaining an inventory of distributed generation meters and oversee the metering data collection system for transmission reporting, member billing calculations, and compliance reporting.
Evaluating regulatory statements, recommendations, and rulings as they relate to net metering and distributed generation.
Partnering with member communities to analyze and recommend rate structure options for financial stability with the integration of renewables in their retail customer base.
Monitoring emerging industry issues and trends and provide guidance and recommendations to optimize the benefit of distributed generation to MEAN and its communities.
Skills & Qualifications You Need
Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, math, or related field and 5 - 7 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Professional Engineer license desired, but not required
Familiarity with electrical distribution and generating equipment and mechanical systems
Ability to effectively present complex material to a lay audience
Ability to listen, build rapport, and effectively influence a diversity of groups and audiences
Familiarity with electric utility operations and RTO/ISO Tariffs
Valid driver's license, and the ability to travel up to 25% of the time
