This position focuses in the areas of Microsoft Office 365, Office 365 Security & Compliance, and general system administration.

CORE COMPETENCIES & ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Job Technical Skills – This position is responsible for implementing, operating, maintaining, installing, and performing system administration of technology systems, servers, virtualization platforms, security & compliance, and related hardware/software. Assists with training and serves as subject matter expert to lower level staff.

  • Verifies and ensures that system operations comply with security policies and procedures. Administers access and permissions to system resources, creates and maintains user accounts and permissions, recommends and implements security practices to minimize risks and vulnerabilities, hardens and patches hardware/software according to established schedules and procedures.

  • Leads medium projects with minimal guidance.

  • Performs system administration activities: installs, configures, and maintains system hardware and software; monitors systems to ensure availability and proper operation; troubleshoots and resolves application, data base, and/or operational issues; installs patches and upgrades to operating systems and applications; ensures compliance with software licensing requirements; maintains documentation and performs other related duties.

  • Designs, plans, installs, administers, and supports small to medium sized technology systems, servers, virtualization platforms, desktop/mobile platforms, and /or related hardware, operating systems, and software.

  • Provides consultation and assistance to coworkers and customers. Freely shares knowledge, mentors others, and serves as a subject matter expert in areas of expertise. Fosters and contributes to an atmosphere of collaborative problem-solving, teamwork, and a strong commitment to a high standard of customer service.

Creativity and Innovation – Seeking a candidate who understands which problems or situations require creativity versus methodical problem-solving. Exposes self to a large volume of diverse information in order to help generate new thoughts. Explores new techniques to improve work results and recommends alternatives or modifications to existing procedures. Knows when progress is being made and to keep going down a particular path to find a creative solution and when to decide an approach is a dead-end and to try something completely new.

Project Management – The successful candidate ensures that projects are monitored for variances and adhere to internal controls, time and cost metrics, and financial and procurement requirements. Ensures timely reporting of program status to all appropriate stakeholders adjusting communication content and practices to audience needs. Quickly escalates project issues to those that can best address them and coordinates with affected stakeholders to resolve project delivery issues.

Consulting – Seeking a candidate who builds and maintains up-to-date expertise in specialty areas. Understands the importance of change management, idea ownership, effectively building stakeholder support, and managing resistance and objections. Knows when to serve as a facilitator helping others understand and explore options and when to serve as a subject matter expert.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associates degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, and

  • Up to two years of experience in area of assignment, or

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
