CORE COMPETENCIES & ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Simple Cycle Peaking Plants, District Energy and Thermal Plants. Specific duties include operating, monitoring, and recording all generation plant functions. Performs sequenced startup, shutdown, and loading of plant equipment on a daily basis. Also responsible for plant maintenance functions and support. Performs emergency and overtime work as required including short notice and at odd hours. When on on-call, response time is expected to be 45 minutes or less, in fit-for-duty condition. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.   • Operates, monitors, and controls via the PLC control system, all assigned power and thermal plant equipment daily.

  • Services, repairs, adjusts, and tests all mechanical and electronic machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment.

  • Monitors and inspects all mechanical and electrical equipment, computer terminals, switches, valves, gauges, alarms, safety devices, and meters to detect leaks or malfunctions.

  • Oversees safety sensitive procedures within the plant facilities to ensure compliance with company policy, agency regulations, etc.

  • Ensures assigned power plant systems are operated in compliance with applicable environmental standards and regulations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associates Degree in Plant Operations or related power plant field, and

  • At least 10 years of related operations/maintenance experience; or

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
