Job Description:
*Position may be filled at Pineville Operations Center 48 KU Drive Fourmile, KY 40939 OR Lexington Radio Shop 500 Stone Road Lexington, KY 40503*
Must be knowledgeable of and follow all safety rules, procedures and practices.
Ability to absorb information, apply conceptual skills in practical applications, and achieve desired results in a highly technical, operating environment.
Must effectively deal with the rapid technological and business changes.
Perform work in a responsible and cooperative manner to facilitate a positive working environment.
Analyze and troubleshoot telecommunications issues, which require moderate resolution.
Install and maintain telecommunications equipment.
Understand basic documentation and schematic drawings.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Effort:
At times, heavy manual labor is a requirement. The candidate must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position in varying weather conditions.
Work Conditions:
Hours will be flexible around the intern’s school schedule with a minimum of 20 hours per week. Full-time hours could potentially be available if the student’s schedule allows.
Required Education & Experience:
Must be currently enrolled and pursuing an Associate’s Degree in a technical field. Applicable degree fields include Engineering and Electronics Technology, Industrial Electricity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. To remain in the position a 2.5 GPA or higher must be sustained throughout the intern program. Above average interpersonal written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Position Purpose:
As a Telecom Technician Intern you will have the opportunity to utilize and expand upon the skillsets and knowledge you have gained in the classroom to perform a variety of highly technical tasks. Our interns work alongside skilled industry professionals to perform duties associated with VOIP telephony, IP routing and switching equipment, microwave/fiber optics transmission equipment, two-way radios, substation equipment, and other cutting-edge technologies.
