Job Description

  • Under general supervision, sets up and operates fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, etc., to cut bend, block and form or straighten materials. Shapes materials over anvil, block or other form, using hand tools.

  • Fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal, HVAC equipment, and structures; Installs assemblies in supportive framework according to blueprints, using hand tools, power tools, and lifting and handling devices.

  • Interprets specifications and working drawings, establishes working points and transfers drawing measurements to field. Lay-out and mark dimensions and reference lines on materials, using scribers, dividers, squares, and rulers.

  • Rigs materials and equipment, selecting appropriate rigging equipment, slings, chainfalls, etc., determines equipment and material rigging points.

Required Skills

Successful candidate must be capable of performing all aspects of sheet metal work and other general/mechanical maintenance; both preventative and corrective. Candidate should be skilled in performing maintenance duties within an industrial setting possessing familiarity with applicable safety concepts and standards.

Required Experience

Requires 7 years of experience as a journeyperson with sheet metal work specialty. Must have journeyperson certification.
