Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy Resources Inc. is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join the Commissioning Team. This person will add value by the following responsibilities:

  • Responsible for execution of assigned Renewable Power Plant Projects as it relates to commissioning, start up, and operational turnover.

  • Responsible for ensuring commissioning activities for assigned projects are performed with high quality and adhering to all NextEra Energy and FPL safety policies.

  • Responsible to review commissioning data preformed in-house and by external contractors to confirm test data is correct, safe and within industry acceptable values.

  • Responsible for coordination and management of, EPC contractor personnel, OEM start up personnel, third party start up contractors, and operations personnel on site, as it relates to site commissioning and startup.

  • Responsible for project reliability at operational turnover with plants exhibiting as little lost time as necessary in initial operation.

  • Responsible for compliance with all project contractual documents to include Power Purchase Agreement and Large Generator Interconnect Agreement deliverables.

  • Ensure proper interface is made with Transmission Operators and Independent Service Operators to ensure project energization dates are achieved.

  • Works collaboratively with resources in various disciplines to determine project priorities and work plans

  • Meets corporate objectives with limited project management, scheduling and estimating resources

  • Ensures projects are efficiently, effectively and safely implemented in accordance with department procedures and policies

  • Manages walk down of planned work, validates acceptance of completed work to design requirements, approves contractor payment requests

  • Verifies constructability, ensures proper resource allocations, assesses field status and resolves issues as needed

  • Supervises activities and/or coordinates activities or groups, such as safety programs, engineering, construction, budget, and analysis and contract administration

  • Oversees commissioning activities to meet corporate objectives, with limited project management, scheduling and estimating resources

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Self-starter with a high drive for quality, execution, and safety

  • Training in NFPA70E, Meggar Testing, and Thermography preferred.

  • 5 plus years’ experience in on-site project support for renewable power generation project construction start up and commissioning

  • 3 years’ experience minimum working for an EPC in renewable power generation project construction start up and commissioning

  • Thorough understanding of Commissioning documents and processes, ability to review, digest and understand commissioning data within industry standards

  • Proven track record and ability to interact with engineering personnel on highly technical issues, and then also interact with construction personnel on constructability, schedule, and cost issues as well

  • Proven track record and ability to multi-task and oversee multiple projects at once

  • Role will be based remote with expected travel at a minimum of 25%, with periods of time during heavy workloads of up to 75%
