We ask our wildlife experts to work alongside multiple disciplines including engineers, developers, operators, permitting specialists, and policy professionals. Successful candidate will have:
Master of Science or MBA preferred
Sound statistical acumen, interpretation, and analytical ability
Highly proficient in ArcGIS to conduct desktop habitat suitability analysis for bats
Familiarity with bat biology, including habitat use
Experience with listed bat regulations and guidance documents (such as the Indiana Bat Summer Survey Guidance and the northern long-eared bat 4(d) rule)
Experience running The Watershed Institute whooping crane model or other regionally appropriate methodologies (for example, Neal Niemuth’s northern great plains HAPET models)
Familiarity with whooping crane biology, behavior, habitat use and migration corridor
Experience with line marking strategies for whooping cranes
Detailed understanding of avian protection laws (Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act) and related wind energy guidance documents and policies
Experience writing Bird and Bat Conservation Strategies
Ability to maintain professional relationships with diverse groups including operation staff, developers, other industry representatives, NGO stakeholders, agency personnel and consultants
Proficient at interacting with public and local elected officials at open houses, local zoning meetings or during other outreach events
Experience reviewing consultant work related to wind energy wildlife issues
Provides strategic advice regarding risk management of protected species and their habitat (avoidance, minimization and mitigation)
Ability to travel up to 30% of the time; often on short notice
Employees in this job are responsible for providing expert environmental support for new and existing facilities including due diligence, permitting, regulatory compliance, regulatory interpretation and development, and interface with Federal, State, and Regional agencies.

• Supports the company's compliance with environmental requirements
• Performs comprehensive environmental due diligence reviews
• Assists with facility compliance audits
• Conducts environmental licensing and permitting activities
• Supports environmental aspects of company operations, such as, compliance, reporting, monitoring, remediation, and environmental permitting functions
• Monitors and analyzes environmental policies and regulations that affect the company and its customers
• Provides the necessary support to staff to resolve environmental matters
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
