Position Specific Description In this role you will interact with asset managers, traders and risk managers to develop financial algorithms/models that support trading/origination/asset optimization decisions, seek arbitrage opportunities within the physical and financial power markets and perform quantitative evaluation using fundamental or technical trading strategies. Conduct market back test to evaluate strategy performance relative to trade tenor. Conduct statistical analysis, developing general risk management strategies and asset optimization algorithms. Understand fundamentals that drive energy price action and develop forecasts, classification models, forward curve, & volatility models to optimize trades. Solid technical expertise in applied mathematics and software development is strongly sought in order to model and integrate market data to production trading systems and applications or prototype environments.

Participate in employee development, coaching and ongoing performance management. Must be able to thrive in project environments with little constraints, be a strategic thinker, self-directed and potentially called upon to provide supervisory duties as back up.

Job Overview Employees in this role develop models, price energy derivatives, design and perform quantitative studies and analyses of spot/forward prices and volatilities for making pricing, trading, and risk management decisions. This position assists in the development of core algorithms and models to support trading, origination, and asset optimization decisions.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops and improves upon mathematical models and translates algorithms into code
  • Assists development of energy price forecast, forward curve, and volatility models
  • Designs and constructs risk management tools used in evaluating company's risk profile and exposure levels
