Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy is seeking an experienced individual to be part of the Central Maintenance Planning team that supports our Generating Fleet in the areas of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The ideal candidate has high capability and drive for personal growth, well organized and process oriented, communicates effectively, and excels at building relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This position is responsible for all aspects of augmenting and/or restoring Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This includes associated engineering, purchasing, permits, construction, planning and commissioning. As such, the candidate must have strong working knowledge of DC / AC electrical and control systems (directly with BESS preferred) and familiarity with associated civil / mechanical disciplines (i.e., projects can include foundations, underground conduits, container cooling / fire suppression systems, mechanical battery racking, et.). In addition, the position is responsible for driving decisions and developing approaches with a number of internal and external groups (i.e., Engineering Teams / Firms, Business Management, Finance, Tax, Risk Management, Purchasing, Development, Land Owners, Site Operations, etc.). The role is also responsible for evaluating various economic scenarios considering total cost factors (such as revenue loss, tax credit eligibility, parts / inventory, transportation, tax, cranes, construction method costs, etc.) and meticulously documenting all costs for project planning, budgeting, tacking and insurance submittals (if applicable). The position will also be responsible for the future demolition of BESS sites upon reaching end of useful life.

Responsibilities include: long term project scope identification, planning and budgeting, procurement, managing cost performance of our projects and assets; interact with plant customers to understand planning assignment specifics; coordinate planning activities with a team of other planners to assure continuity of work and efficiency of planning; maintain an effective interface with various fleet organizations relative to engineering and technical issues; perform walk-down equipment in various sites across North America; and manage large quantities of planning assignments at multiple plants with definitive due dates for deliverables. Due to the 24 hour, 7 day per week nature of power generation, night, weekend, and holiday support via telephone or call-out, may be required. This position will be based out of our Headquarters in Juno Beach, FL (Flexible within any FPL Plant) with 30% travel within Florida.

Requirements:

  • Experience with IBM Maximo or similar asset management software, SAP, Excel PowerPivot, and Microsoft Business Intelligence

  • Candidates require 5-10 years of demonstrated Project Management / Planning experience in the areas of Electrical engineering and construction (preferably with BESS)

  • Proficiency in technical writing and procedure writing techniques

  • PMI Project Management Certification (Preferred)

  • Six Sigma Certification; Yellow Belt or higher (Preferred)

  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Preferred)

  • Professional Engineering Licenses (EIT/PE) (Preferred)
