Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy is seeking an experienced Accounting Technician to support the functional day-to-day transactions of the company in the Tax Payment COE.

Responsibilities include:

• Perform a variety of accounting functions in one or more of the following areas: general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, cash or related financial area in various areas of the tax department.

• Apply advanced bookkeeping accounting principles in the performance of daily responsibilities.

• Meet all assigned Month End close deadlines as outlined in the close calendar.

• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines

• Identify and complete all tasks that can be performed prior to month end.

• Ensure SOx compliance with all processes

• Conduct special projects and analysis as needed

• Prepare master data forms S4HANA (SAP).

• Perform Quarterly General Ledger Account Reconciliations

• Provide audit support to external auditors

Qualifications

• Good communication skills, oral and written, good record keeping and organization skills

• Detail oriented and strong multitasking skills

• Two year Associate Degree in Accounting is preferred.

• High School / GED required.

• 3 - 5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience required.

• Proficient in Excel.

• Knowledge of Sharepoint and Confluence is a plus.

• S4HANA (SAP) knowledge is a plus.

• Local candidates preferred.

Job Overview

Employees in this job apply some advanced skills to perform a variety of routine and some non-routine clerical and accounting functions in accordance with standard procedures in one or more of the following areas: general accounting, project accounting, tax accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable or related financial area. Individuals in this role may reconcile bank accounts, post information and balances in general or subsidiary ledgers, process payments and compile segments of monthly closings, annual reports, etc. either manually or via SAP. Employees in this role may adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment and techniques to meet the more complex requirements of the position and may assist in orienting and training lower level employees.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Under direct supervision:

• Contacts other departments and/or outside agencies to resolve problems

• Processes accounts payable and accounts receivable and sets up and maintains vendors for multiple companies

• Audits invoices entered at remote locations for completeness and accuracy, corrects errors in accordance with procedure

• Manages electronic workflow, monitors and resolves open invoice items, prepares and processes domestic and foreign wire transfers

• Creates and maintains vendor data to include IRS 1099 reporting requirements

• Interacts with all levels of employees as needed to perform responsibilities

• Works on special projects as requested

• Applies advance bookkeeping practices for project accounting

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
