JEA Director - Electric Systems Planning in Jacksonville, Florida

The Director of Electric Systems Planning is responsible and accountable for the long-term system planning and engineering of the generation, transmission, and distribution components (i.e., production and delivery) of the electric system such that the core service of providing electricity to current and future markets is done reliably, cost effectively, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor annual business plans and accompanying annual master schedule to achieve organizational mission, goals, and performance measures.
  • Manage and administer operational and maintenance (O&M) cost center budgets.
  • Establish strategic working relationships with community partners, governmental officials, other utilities, industry organizations, and regulatory agencies.
  • Represent JEA in professional and regulatory organizations (i.e., NERC, FRCC, NATF, EPRI)
  • Participate in the development and management of JEA's annual capital budget and 10-year capital budget plan.
  • Plan, organize, train, coach, direct, and evaluate the performance of assigned managers, supervisors and staff, establishing performance requirements and personal development targets, monitoring performance, and providing executive direction for performance improvement and development.
  • Develop long term requirements of the markets served by JEA by defining infrastructure requirements and considering the economics of alternative supply and power delivery solutions, seeking overall reliability, affordability, and sustainability improvements.
  • Develop master plans to include proposed capacity-driven projects for the future supply needs of base customers and new markets.
  • Develop system planning models and studies for the electric core services.
  • Coordinate new development capacity requirements by staying in touch w/ state and local entities driving residential and commercial/industrial growth.
  • Stay abreast of relative local, state, federal and global regulations, events, and activities.
  • Provide leadership and example in meeting JEA's safety and wellness goals.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders within JEA business units to maintain enterprise alignment.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

_Education_: A bachelor's degree in engineering, science, economics, finance, or related field. Master's degree preferred. AND _Experience_: Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in electric utility engineering, operations, and/or planning. OR An equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training. _License/certifications/registrations_:
Registered State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE) certification is strongly preferred.
A valid driver's license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment. /The salary range for this position is $146,260 - $202,136. Salary will vary based on education, experience, skills, and abilities./
