Performs a wide variety of engineering activities associated with transmission line maintenance, design, project management and construction, and operations activities in the MS Transmission Grid organization. This includes routine, non-routine, and emergency restoration duties associated with transmission line systems and operations. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root cause failure analysis.
Plan and conduct independent engineering work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
Devises new approaches to solving problems.
Perform advanced engineering studies and analysis that may be applied to Entergy’s transmission system.
Possess advanced knowledge of the NESC, NEC, and/or other national codes and standards.
Provide opinion and advice associated with national codes and Entergy design standards.
Applies knowledge of engineering principles in evaluating alternatives, making decisions, and interpreting/employing applicable electrical codes, procedures, standards, processes, and policies.
Advise and consult with other field engineering and operations personnel on complex technical matters.
Work with other disciplines within the Transmission organization and other company business units to achieve stated goals.
Assist with storm/emergency restoration efforts as necessary.
Perform both planned and unplanned aerial patrols to identify transmission line issues and damages and effectively communicate patrol information back to group.
Minimum education required of the position
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil) from a four-year accredited institution.
Minimum experience required of the position
Engineer I: 0-2 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
Engineer II: 2+ years of experience in an engineering discipline.
Engineer III: 4+ years of experience in an engineering discipline.
Engineer Sr: 6+ years of experience in an engineering discipline.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Technical mastery of engineering principles.
In-depth knowledge of procedures, programs, and standards in responsible area.
Experience in transmission line and power system design and analysis.
Consistently drives for value in sound engineering decisions.
Mentors other engineers and technical professionals.
Good leadership skills.
Good interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills.
Excellent math skills.
Excellent project management skills.
Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software.
Familiar with National Electrical Safety Codes and National Electrical Code and applications.
Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities.
Ability to work well under pressure.

Excellent computer skills; Knowledgeable in MS Office toolkit
Experience with PLS-Cadd transmission line design software or similar programs

Able to work cross-functional with other personnel, departments and organizations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position
