The Control Systems Electric team is responsible for engineering, purchasing, implementing and maintaining various applications, desktops, servers, and network infrastructure for the business network and 24-hour real-time network supporting Smart Energy and SCADA program business partners. The team of analysts has responsibility for requirements gathering, design/architecture, implementation, and maintenance of systems. The team of analysts is also responsible for the identification, testing, and installation of updates/patches, configuration changes, change management, enhancements, maintenance, preparation of system documentation, monitoring of the systems, and support of the systems. The team of analysts uses historical data and trend analysis to make capacity planning recommendations to enhance existing systems, technology, and business processes. The team of analysts ensures the performance and reliability of the system including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network problems as well as root-cause analysis of issues.
The Control Systems Electric team manages infrastructure and applications critical to the operation of Consumers Energy bulk electric system and distribution system. The team provides real-time critical systems support for all levels. The team provides rotating 24x7x365 on-call support.
This particular Control Systems Electric Analyst position is intended to be System Administration/Application focused. As all Control Systems Electric Analysts have the same access you will have full access to all network equipment, systems, and applications within Operational Technologies and you will be expected to become a Subject Matter Expert on your assigned systems and/or applications. The Control Systems Electric team has a diverse set of responsibilities and with that allows significant opportunity to have individual contributor roles change responsibilities with time.
Participate in on-call rotation and ticket handling for the 24x7x365 systems
Provide technical ad-hoc support to internal customers in Electric System Control and Merchant Operations
Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of associates in the organization

Full technical knowledge of the systems development life cycle

Familiarity with distributed applications
Support network components (LAN/WAN) switches, routers, firewalls, cellular modems, and load balancers
Perform server, network, and application capacity planning and performance tuning
Experience in performance monitoring methods and using appropriate tools
Experience with automation and orchestration using scripting and other tools
Identify technology options and define detailed specifications of technology solutions
Proficient in systems analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, support, and documentation
Experience delivering technical documentation and procedures
Microsoft platforms such as Server 2008R2 through 2016 and SQL Server 2008R2 through 2016, both Enterprise and Standard
Linux (RHEL based distributions) administration experience is desirable
Core applications such as Active Directory, IIS, and Office
Requires a bachelor’s degree preferably in an Information Technology field. Less than a bachelor’s degree may be acceptable if accompanied by other technical training / relevant certifications and extensive experience (internal/external) in positions that demonstrate required abilities and performance
3+ years of experience

Experience with EMC storage technologies such as VNX2 Unified, DataDomains, RecoverPoint appliances, and Connectrix B-series (Brocade) switches
Experience with Microsoft infrastructure systems such as System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012R2 and 2016, System Center Orchestrator, System Center Configuration Manager, and System Center Operations Manager
Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Experience with SCADA applications such as OSI Monarch, ABB Network Manager, or GE/Alstom e-terra habitat
Experience with NERC CIP, FERC 693, and FERC SOC
Experience with relational and non-relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, MemSQL, Cassandra, and MongoDB
Experience with business intelligence tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services and QlikTech QlikView
Experience with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds Orion, Q1 QRadar, and Splunk
Experience with time-series data archival systems such as InStep eDNA and OSIsoft PI Historian

Hours and Travel
Meet travel requirements of the position. Work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime. Participate in a rotating on-call that supports our systems 24x7x365.
