Business Resiliency reports through the Safety, Security & Business Resiliency organization and is responsible for assuring that appropriate plans, strategies, and governance structures are in place to enable the company to effectively respond to and recover from events that impact the company, employees, customers, and the communities we serve.

Position Overview:

The Edison Watch Office provides centralized monitoring, assessment, and reporting of incidents, accidents, and significant events and is responsible for maintaining awareness of all incidents or events that might have a significant impact on the company. The Watch Office assesses and regularly reassess the scope and impact of incidents, keeps executive management informed, and recommends escalation if needed. The Watch Officer will provide 24/7/365 real time reporting and coordination support to all Edison organizational units, facilities, and employees.

Youwill maintain strong situational awareness of internal and external factors (such as weather), planned events, and emergent incidents; receive initial reports of incidents, accidents, and emergencies from diverse sources; proactively develop, collect, and vet additional information; conduct an overall assessment of hazards, risks, and impacts; initiate or assist with the initiation of protective measures and mitigation strategies; ensure that appropriate notifications (and updates) are made to managers, executives, and regulators; escalate response and mitigation actions when needed; ensure that sufficient resources are assigned; assist with obtaining resources and coordinating logistics support; follow through, monitor, and report on ongoing incidents until they are resolved or complete; and create and maintain logs and records available for future reference or to respond to legal or regulatory inquiries.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • You will maintain situational awareness of internal and external factors (such as weather), planned events, and emergent incidents

  • The Watch Officer will receive initial reports of incidents, accidents, and emergencies from diverse sources and proactively develop, collect, and vet additional information

  • You will conduct an overall assessment of hazards, risks, and impacts and initiate or assist with the initiation of protective measures and mitigation strategies

  • Additionally, the Watch Officer will ensure that appropriate notifications (and updates) are made to managers, executives, and regulators and escalate response and mitigation actions when needed

  • You will also ensure that sufficient resources are assigned; assist with obtaining resources and coordinating logistics support; and follow through, monitor, and report on ongoing incidents until they are resolved or complete.

  • Maintain and manage watch bills, duty lists, and related procedures for corporate response teams.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience as a watch officer or similar role in emergency operations centers, intelligence/fusion centers, public safety access points, or similar real time operations centers.

  • Four years of experience collecting information from diverse sources, performing analysis, disseminating actionable information, and providing recommendations.

  • Experience writing reports

  • Experience presenting critical information orally and in writing.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Specialized expertise in utility operations, engineering, emergency response, analysis (operations, intelligence, etc.) or a related field

  • Bachelor Degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Experience using office productivity tools to create and edit complex reports, graphs, and presentations, converting information from one format to another, using advanced functions, and generating non-standard reports from business applications and/or databases.

  • Experience working on cross functional teams.

  • Experience processing information and presenting pertinent details to senior management and executives.

  • Experience providing exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to liaise with local fire and law enforcement and outside agencies.

  • Experience communicating, both orally and in a written format, to a wide variety of audiences.

  • Basic/Intermediate/Advanced Incident Command System certification.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Comments:

  • The primary work location for this position is Irwindale, CA.

  • This position will be working a rotating shift. The successful candidate must be available and willing to work day, swing and graveyard shifts on a rotating basis.

  • This position has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities.

  • This positionis subject torecall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee’s official position description.
