Become a Business Resiliency Training Advisor working with Business Resiliency at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. This job is part of a team of emergency management experts who strive to provide for and protect the security of people and property, and ensures the company is well prepared to respond to and recover from incidents that compromise our ability to operate. Lead efforts to ensure all Incident Management Team personnel are appropriately trained in their response roles for all types of hazards.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Design and develop trainings to support Business Resiliency initiatives and objectives.

  • Improve existing emergency management and incident command system curriculum, training materials, and job aids.

  • Deliver effective training that improves the knowledge, skills, and abilities of response team members as well as field and support staff.

  • Serve as one of our emergency management SMEs for incident response including the National Incident Management System and ICS.

  • Engage emergency management partners at the local, state, and Federal level, and with utility industry professionals.

  • Instruct emergency management, ICS, and incident response courses. Facilitate and present to emergency management professionals. Validated experience within the emergency management profession, and previous teaching experience of ICS courses.

  • Lead design and development of innovative courses for cross-functional incident management teams and field-level personnel.

  • Recommend, support, and consult on Business Resiliency initiatives, including: planning, technology, training, exercise evaluation, and risk assessment projects.

  • Support real-world emergencies, work in the Emergency Operations Center, and act as a lead coach or other support function for Incident Support and Management Teams.

Qualifications

The Essentials

  • Seven years of emergency management or business resiliency experience working with public or private entities; or a combination of public and private sector experience.

  • Four years of experience designing, developing, and delivering emergency management classroom instruction or combining emergency management and related subjects.

  • Four years of experience staffing Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs) or Incident Management Teams (IMTs).

  • One year of experience leading complex projects with multiple partners.

The Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Five or more years of existing work experience providing emergency management instruction or consultation within the electric utility industry.

  • Local, state, or federal level with training and exercise program implementation experience along with demonstrated use of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

  • Certified trainer for ICS 300 and 400.

  • Registered with the California Specialized Training Institute (CSTI) as an instructor.

  • Completion of FEMA training on the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP); or equivalent.

  • Course E/L 449; Incident Command System Curricula Train-the-Trainer or National Wildfire Coordinating Group Course M-410; Facilitative Instructor or Approved equivalent train-the trainer course.

  • Completion train-the-trainer courses for FEMA position-specific trainings (e.g. Operations Section Chief or Planning Section Chief).
