Premier Power Maintenance Electrical Designer in Indianapolis, Indiana

Reports To: Manager of Engineering Services

Job Summary: This position will assist the Engineering Department with various tasks including project document review, job site data collection & verification, AutoCAD Drafting, SKM data entry, and other miscellaneous tasks.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Gather field data for performing various engineering studies

  • Create and modify prints and drawings

  • Create and modify excel, word and pdf documents

  • Assist in preparing estimates and project take offs for proposals

  • Ability to assist in field service substation maintenance work as needed

  • Verify completeness of all documentation

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must have strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD

  • SKM Power Tools or EasyPower knowledge is a plus.

  • Ability to read one-line diagrams and construction documents

  • Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams

  • Point-to point wiring schematic knowledge

  • Must have excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to identify errors and omissions within project documents and scopes

  • Support engineers with system commissioning and testing

  • Communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, with customers, peers, management and owners

  • Must be willing to learn

Work Environment:

  • Must be willing and able to travel often on overnight, multi-day, out-of-town jobs

  • Must be able to lift and maneuver at least 50 pounds

  • Ability to push, pull, lift, stoop, climb; work at elevated positions

  • Must be willing and capable of working with your hands and working in the field

  • Overtime will occasionally be required

Education and Work Experience:

  • Requires an Associate Degree in a technical field or drafting

  • Previous experience in an A/E or electrical power industry helpful, but not required

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background, education verification, motor vehicle report, physical abilities test and an approved hair and urine drug screen

  • Must have a valid driver’s license

  • Must be willing to obtain a company paid TWIC card, OSHA 10 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, and CPR training
