National Grid is hiring a Senior Engineer for our Power Generation team in Hicksville, NY.

Job Purpose

Interact and cooperate with generating plant staff, maintenance organizations, plant performance improvement and engineering groups and Information systems organizations and vendors.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide plant operations and performance engineers with reliable data and graphic representations of plant systems for evaluating key plant performance indicators.

  • Introduce new instrumentation interface technologies to plant management to assist in performance improvement methods and techniques.

  • Maintain knowledge of current networking and instrumentation interface technologies.

  • Maintain NERC required security on critical computer systems and networked devices installed and used in the plants.

  • Support asset management functions by providing appropriate, timely data to asset management and operators

  • Knowledge of NERC CIP requirements as they pertain to critical cyber assets and operational technology


  • Bachelors’ degree in an engineering discipline

  • 3 years + of electric generating plant experience or other appropriate experience

  • 5 years + of instrumentation and control systems experience

  • Demonstrated technical capabilities in instrumentation and data acquisition systems, software and hardware.

  • Strong inter-personal skills

  • Creative, Innovative, Adaptable and Flexible. Able to work with current plant systems.

  • Analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge in a working environment
