Responsible for the creation, review and closure of corrective action items and related tracking practices, designed to aid in the exposure reduction process. Responsible for review and evaluation of current industry practices as they relate to Radiation Protection, which may include applicability reviews. In addition, accountable for establishing and tracking RP departmental goals in the areas of radiation exposure, radioactive material controls events, high radiation area events, event-free clock resets, other performance indicators and corrective action items, including establishing programs to monitor and improve performance in these areas. Responsible for identifying and recommending industry lessons learned, operating experiences, INPO good practices, etc., into RP procedures and practices. Responsible for independently ensuring that effective industry techniques, including lead shielding, flushing, robotics, etc., are established to reduce exposure in the radiologically posted areas. Will analyze/evaluate and trend departmental data to assist in the reduction of radiological exposures and drive for performance improvement within the radiation protection programs.
REQUIRED: As an engineer, BS Degree in a Science or Engineering and a minimum of 3-5 years related nuclear experience or equivalent experience in the field of operational Radiation Protection. Also needed is a thorough understanding of plant operations, systems, and an in-depth knowledge of Radiation Protection and ALARA fundamentals.
