Independently responsible for ensuring that effective Radiation Protection programs including procedures, management controls, and regulatory requirements are in place and appropriately monitored. Responsible for keeping abreast of new industry techniques, benchmarking review and response and applying these in field work at the station.

Major Job Duties/Responsibilities include: Driving and championing programmatic and industry initiatives for Radiation Protection Programs. These techniques are documented in technical basis documents and procedures/programs. Responsible for independently completing assessments, effectiveness reviews, trending and overall program health. Accountable for establishing and tracking departmental goals in the areas of radiation exposure. This includes establishing programs to monitor and improve performance in these areas and work week meeting attendance. Responsible for identifying and incorporating industry lessons learned, operating experiences, INPO good practices, etc., into radiological job coverage documents including the RWP and ALARA reviews. In conjunction with the RP Supervisors, oversee work in the field and perform in-field observations to improve performance. Independently manage larger scale RP related projects.

REQUIRED:

HS Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 5-8 years RP related nuclear experience, or equivalent education/experience in the field of operational RP.

Required all: In-depth knowledge of Radiation Protection and ALARA fundamentals. Thorough understanding of plant operations and systems. Good oral and written communication skills. Excellent computer skills. Must meet Nuclear’s requirements for Unescorted Plant Access.

DESIRED: BS Degree in a related Science or Engineering.
