Job Summary/Purpose

Consults with management and employees in the administration of all Human Resources programs, policies and procedures. Leads the overall support in area of expertise (ADA).

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the HR Representative responsible for executing established processes relating to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). These responsibilities include facilitating the ADA interactive process through, among other things, meetings with employees, management and leadership.

  • Must possess excellent critical thinking skills to understand limitations presented by specific disabilities, reasonable accommodations in light of essential job functions and impacts of potential accommodations on ongoing business operations.

  • Able to analyze essential job functions, navigate any undue hardship factors and identify potential direct threats.

  • Responsible for working with managers when an employee appears to present a direct threat to his or her own safety or the safety of others due to a medical condition.

  • Identify issues that present unusual challenges and require further input from stakeholder groups, such as managers, senior leaders, legal, and claims department.

  • Must possess in depth Knowledge of the ADAAA, OFCCP and FMLA regulations.

  • Understand the core business of the assigned organizational area, including the essential functions of positions in that business.

  • Responsible for working with managers to create/clarify the essential functions for specific roles within the organization.

  • Serves as an effective and trusted partner with assigned organizational areas to ensure alignment of HR activities with business goals and objectives .

  • Must possess excellent written communication skills in order to detail in a clear, concise manner relevant essential job functions and any particular observed safety or other concerns related to the employee so that appropriate health care provider is able to provide useful information in connection with the ADA interactive process.

  • Responsible for gathering and maintaining all relevant documentation of the interactive process that is obtained and retained in relation to the company processes and the ADA law.

  • Ability to administer employment actions based on the outcome of the ADA process.

  • Ability to think independently and to work with limited oversight.

  • Must be able to appropriately influence stakeholders based on facts and sound judgement. Must possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to work with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Prioritizes work, effectively handles multiple tasks simultaneously, takes initiative, possesses sound reasoning and problem-solving skills, functions as a team member as well as works independently, develops and conducts presentations to management.

  • Develops and revises HR administrative procedures and policies when applicable. Maintains and distributes up-to-date knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.

  • Ability to work in a confidential manner related to sensitive issues.

Minimum education required for this position:

  • Bachelors of Business Administration, Human Resources Degree or another related field.

  • HR Rep II: 4-5 years of relevant HR experience with Employee Relations experience with a bachelor’s degree; 8+ years of relevant HR experience without a bachelor’s degree.

  • HR Rep Sr: 6+ years of relevant HR experience with Employee Relations experience with a bachelor’s degree; 10+ years of relevant HR experience without a bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Requirements:

  • MBA strongly preferred

  • Specific ADA experience strongly preferred

  • HR Certification strongly preferred

  • Knowledge and experience of Worker’s Compensation Laws

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position:

Ability to confidentially manage sensitive records of the company. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Working knowledge of MSOffice including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Ability to work with minimum supervision as well as with a team. Ability to handle multipleand time sensitive projects. Experience with PeopleSoft HRIS applications and COGNOS. Proficient in HRIS applications including reporting anddata entry. Knowledge of company policies, practices and procedures.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

PHR/SPHR certification desired.
