Manager of IT Applications and Databases

Full Time Perm

Shift : Hybrid - 2 days on-site 3 days remote

Salary Range: $125,800 - $188,600

Location: Hammond, IN

The Operational Technologies (OT) Team supports the NIPSCO Electric Environment, the environment encompasses several sites including two Control Centers and over seventy substations in Northern Indiana.

The teams that encompass Operational Technologies include:

  • Applications – Team that manages the applications and the Energy Management System within the environment.

  • Security – Team that monitors and manages the network configuration and firewalls and security in the environment.

  • Systems – Team that manages the servers and workstations within the environment.

The Manager of IT Applications and Databases will focus on leading a team of application engineers that provide support for the NiSource/NIPSCO environment. The Manager will be the focal point for internal customers as well as leading the team in project efforts for new and existing software deployments.

In this role you will provide leadership and technical expertise to a team of Operational Technology Specialists who support a variety of Critical Cyber Asset systems. The position requires the ability to troubleshoot and resolve system issues and to continually improve existing system designs. 

Overall, as the Manager of IT Applications and Databases you will ensure the reliability, performance, integrity, and recoverability of the identified Cyber Asset hardware, operating systems, and/or associated applications.  Where applicable, all supported systems will be implemented and supported in compliance with the requirements of the NERC CIP standards as well as internal corporate policies.

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Leads and ensures the fulfillment of team responsibilities

  • Providing reliable 24 x 7 support

  • Working with vendors, application developers, database administrators, corporate IT, and other technology groups to resolve any problems

  • Participating in disaster recovery planning, development, exercises, and actual events

  • Performance management and development for direct reports

  • Maintains proper change management documentation for all hardware and software modifications

  • Conducts routine audits of all supported systems to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, procedures, and requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of experience designing, maintaining troubleshooting, and upgrading IT applications and systems

  • 3+ years of experience with database applications such as SQL or Oracle

  • 3+ years of experience leading or supervising IT teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the energy or utility industry

  • Experience supporting a 24 x 7 real time operations environment

  • Experience supporting systems subject to regulatory compliance requirements, or experience with FERC, NERC, RFC, or MISO

  • An industry standard certification
