SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Missoula Storekeeper and guidance of division construction management, operations technician will work with storekeeper and operating staff to ensure that required materials and supplies are available when needed, performing issuing, receiving, returning and inventorying of materials critical to the overall operation of Hamilton district, help with Fleet and Facility related issues as needed, and work with the Construction group as needed.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • All NorthWestern Energy employees are required to adhere to company safety standards and the Code of Business Conduct & Ethics

  • Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectives

  • Issue, receive, return, transfer and inventory material

  • Operation of forklift for loading and unloading of materials

  • Cleaning and organizing warehouse and yard

  • Some work is outdoors in a variety of weather conditions

  • Must become familiar with the Capital Business process related to Customer requests for new service and relocates and other processes as assigned

  • Communicates timely and effectively to maintain good working relationships with customers, contractors, engineering firms

  • Use locates, mapping, and site visits to establish location of current or nearby utilities, prospective utility routes

  • Locate electric, gas, communication, water, sewer and any other pertinent underground facilities

  • Create job quotes and contracts for the customer

  • Clearly and concisely communicate both written and verbally

  • Some travel may be required 0-25% of the time

  • Majority of time spent walking and lifting materials up to 35lbs

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record

  • High school diploma or equivalency (Business, technical degree, construction background or field experience a plus)

  • Knowledge of inventory procedures, materials management, basic procurement methods, warehouse safety

  • Computer skills are essential, SAP operating system

  • Possess record-keeping, filing and organizational skills

  • Excellent communications skills are essential

  • Excellent internal customer service skills are essential

  • Ability to safely perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50lbs

  • Valid Montana Drivers License

  • Forklift Certification (NorthWestern Energy will provide training)
