The DOT Compliance Specialist is responsible for supporting the Safety Department in the management of safety programs and ensuring the company’s compliance with all transportation and safety regulation, to include but not limited to DOT, OSHA and all state and federal regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure DOT and Non-DOT new hire paperwork is filled out correctly;
Sort, enter electronically, and file all paper driver logs received.
Schedule drug screens for new hires, random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident testing as required;
Ensuring compliance with DOT, FMCSA, Driver Qualification documentation, Motor Vehicle Reports, and Drug and Alcohol testing;
Maintain DOT Drug and Alcohol Database by ensuring testing is performed as required and pool is maintained correctly;
Maintain, update, and implement driver qualification records per current DOT regulations;
Notify drivers of upcoming document expirations, obtain renewed documents, and upload on company personnel software;
Manage driver MVR and FMCSA violation databases, employee driver qualification (DQ) files, vehicle maintenance records,
Other projects and tasks as assigned.
Bachelor Degree preferred; combination of education and proven experience in lieu of college degree will be considered; safety certifications a plus.
Minimum four (3) years of demonstrated experience in fleet/trucking transportation industry, with solid DOT supervisory/administration experience; oil field services a plus.
Knowledge of the current legal base for DOT and FMCSA regulations.
Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Effective communication skills - verbal and written in English; bilingual Spanish a plus.
Professional integrity, confidentiality and sense of responsibility and accountability.
Highly organized and efficient worker; skilled at multi-tasking.
Willing to take initiative and work independently when needed.
Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
Ability to interact with others in a team and fast-paced environment.
Must have knowledge of and be comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Have excellent ADP experience .
