Testing Required:

On-Site Role: Must be available to work on-site at this assigned work location.

Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

Job Summary

Entry-level position under indirect and intermittent supervision of more senior technicians. Performs basic installation, operation, calibration and maintenance of station automation, gas measurement, communication and control systems used in the transportation of natural gas. Activities are undertaken in accordance with specific standards, pre-determined tolerances, etc. Works directly with Gas Control operations and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) support staff in ensuring installed equipment can properly monitor and control the flow of gas measurement and control systems. Span of control is 0; this is an individual contributor job.

Key Accountabilities

• Inspects and calibrates gas measurement and control equipment to ensure government, industry and enterprise standards are met.

• Works with engineering on implementation of major plant improvements and new construction projects.

• Monitors, calibrates and tests integrated systems performances; analyzes results to the primary component level and initiates corrective action.

• Maintains communication hardware (Satellite, lease line, Ethernet) linking monitoring equipment to host systems.

• Installs and operates gas quality monitoring equipment.

• Utilizes Continuous Improvement skills to plan, execute and follow through on operational and procedural improvements in a dynamic regulatory environment.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

• High School diploma or GED and 2 years of installation and repair of control equipment

• Valid driver's license, must meet Company driving standard of less than 6 points.

Other Qualifications

Preferred

• Associates or Bachelor's degree in engineering technology

• Experience with programmable logic controller (PLC) and measurement systems used in the transportation of natural gas

• Exposure to PLC programming

• Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or equivalent software

Other Requirements

• May require initial and/or periodic drug or fitness for duty related testing and must qualify under Department of Transportation Operator Qualification (OQ) Program for related tasks; ability to carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs in remote field locations.
