The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for the successful delivery of multiple small and medium sized projects. They will be responsible for capturing business requirements and supporting the development process through to successful implementation of projects within the Global Energy Management (GEM) business function, whilst also providing similar services for Meter Asset, Regulatory Compliance and Financial Control business functions. The post-holder will be responsible for working within the framework of GEM applications which include key trading systems, whilst also working within key meter asset, financial and regulatory systems also.

This will involve early engagement with the business to capture requirements and coordination of Business Analysts and suppliers to design, develop, test and implement new functionality. As a senior role this includes development of specialist application knowledge and mentoring of Business Analysts. It also includes management of user acceptance testing and responsibility for the governance processes.


  • Responsible for effective coordination of IT department work (Business Analysts and Test Resources) and monitoring progress of 3rd Party software development.

  • Good understanding of the IT Strategy and able to select options that deliver its aims.

  • Undertake end to end project management responsibilities across full project lifecycle for small projects, complying with departmental standards

  • Lead the capture, documentation and analysis of business and UK IT requirements

  • Ensures that all requirements are met by proposed solution and that technologies are adopted in line with ScottishPower's technology blueprint.

  • To manage and/or provide hands-on testing of new developments. This includes the development of test plans/scripts, performing tests, documenting test results and the management of defect resolution with suppliers. The Senior Business Analyst will be the key decision maker at the implementation release meeting.

  • Proven ability to apply knowledge of businesses and sector in order to ensure IT development projects are fit for purpose and support business goals/strategy

  • To develop detailed business and application knowledge and support business analysts in their areas of expertise.

  • Responsible at a project level for alignment of projects with core IT strategy via the Architecture and Technology group.

  • Provides technical assessment and prioritisation on projects to the Demand Management submission

  • Development of IT Disaster Recovery plans as defined in the IT Strategy

Skills and Requirements

We are looking for individuals with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ideally, structured Analysis skills, Documentation, Report Writing, PC skills, Presentation Techniques. Ideally, good knowledge and understanding of Energy management/Financial/Regulatory business processes. Strong understanding and experience of technology and architecture.

You will need to demonstrate as a minimum:

  • Degree qualified In Computer Science or related subject

  • Highly developed influencing skills to work successfully across the International Group.

  • Postgraduate experience in the relevant field

  • Flexibility to travel

What we offer

This is aPermanent Full-timecontract. Salary for this role will be min. from £39840per annum.
