LG&E and KU Energy Craft-Worker Intern I - System Lab Technician in Ghent, Kentucky


Job Description:

  • Assists in receiving, analyzing and reporting analytical results for samples obtained from multiple company systems including, but not limited to, boiler water systems, cooling water systems, and scrubber systems; fuel samples, oil samples, and sorbent trap samples.

  • Maintain documentation/computer entry of daily data.

  • Prepare laboratory reagents necessary for lab procedures.

  • Responsible for gaining understanding of compliance with various state and EPA water quality and discharge limitations.

  • Develop understanding of compliance with safety procedures regarding laboratory chemicals including hazardous chemicals.

  • Performs other duties as directed by management.

Physical Effort:

Routine handling of laboratory chemicals including, but not limited to, acids, bases, and solvents. Must be able to live up to 50 lbs.

Work Conditions:

Laboratory environment with a small amount of field work possible. Work may include exposure to the elements (heat, cold, rain, wind etc.).

Required Education & Experience:

Must be currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in a technical field. Applicable degree fields include Applied Process Technology, Associate of Science or a related field.

Must complete a chemistry course with a lab.

Minimum 2.50 GPA.
