Department Overview

The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

Within Electric Operations, the Major Projects and Programs (MPP) organization is responsible for the end-to-end project management, design, estimating and construction of all distribution and transmission projects. These projects and programs include Vegetation Management, State Infrastructure, Pole Replacement, Rule 20, Capacity/Reliability Planning, Storage, WRO, and Mobile Home. MPP is also responsible for overseeing two major programs in our wildfire risk mitigations plans, the system hardening of distribution line miles and the system inspection of all distribution assets. MPP strives to deliver certainty in work execution by performing work safely, effectively and efficiently.

Position Summary

Innovative Design Solutions is responsible for developing new tools and technologies that will support the Central Design & Estimating organization with MPP. The Innovative Design group promotes a culture of continuous improvement of all tools, processes and procedures.

The Senior Data Analyst will be a key member of the Innovative Design Solutions team and will be involved in the development and enhancement of tools and applications. He/she will be responsible for building system architecture, data engineering and integrating new technology solutions with existing legacy systems. Activities may include but are not limited to: working with stakeholders across all Lines of Business and within Electric Operations; identify gaps; gather and document business requirements; and technology issue resolution.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter who works well with all levels of the organization, is an effective communicator who can translate technical information into business terms for stakeholders; has a keen process understanding; works well with ambiguity; has high energy and is adept at overcoming resistance to change.

This position offers a flexible work location within the PG&E service territory.


  • Develops and maintains new technology solutions for a variety of systems and platforms.

  • Develop and maintenance of Salesforce applications and reporting solutions.

  • Develops and tracks metrics for business performance reporting.

  • Facilitates insights on reporting deliverables.

  • Compiles and analyzes data related to current and in development reporting deliverables.

  • Performs business process improvement activities in support of the business. Activities may include developing, managing or coordinating metrics and reporting processes, change management, communication, and training.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or job-related discipline; or equivalent experience

  • Job-related experience, 4 years


  • Admin or App Builder Salesforce Certified

  • Knowledge of APEX and/or Visual Force languages.

  • Working experience in Salesforce platform as a Tier 1 or Tier 2 Admin

  • Strong verbal and written communication

  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc), databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks)

  • Creative problem-solving skills to develop solutions.

  • Working experience with ArcGIS or ESRI products

  • Experience with Palantir integration platform

  • Master’s degree in Business Analytics

  • Working experience in an Agile environment

  • Knowledge of other programming languages (such as Visual Basic, R, C++, HTML, and/or Python)

  • Influence skills to effectively gain buy in from leaders inside and outside of the department.

  • Adaptable to changing business conditions and ambiguity.

  • Experience with technology deployments.

  • Able to present complex data and technical information in a simple and easy-to-understand manner

  • Able to build working relationships across the organization

  • Ability to effectively work with people of all levels, from executives and managers to field-based personnel
