Brief Posting Description

Monitor, attend and operate all combustion turbines, steam turbines, heat recovery steam generators and auxiliary equipment. Perform skilled maintenance work on mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment, as qualifications allow. Support shift Senior/Foreman in competently operating a combined cycle generating facility in conformance with facility's Power Purchase Agreements, Operating Agreements, plant procedures, environmental regulations and safety procedures with minimal guidance or assistance. Keep Senior/Foreman fully informed of plant operating status, unusual conditions, and faulty equipment. Competently maintain/repair a combined cycle generating facility and all associated auxiliary and support equipment with minimal guidance or assistance. Perform overall plant maintenance, preventive and corrective as individual qualifications allow. Following satisfactory completion of required training, handle hazardous material/waste as required.

NOTE : There is one position available and the position will be filled at either the Combined Cycle Technician I (T2), Combined Cycle Technician II (T3), Combined Cycle Technician III (T4), Combined Cycle Technician IV (T5). This decision will be based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate and Tri-State business needs at the time of hire.

Hiring Hourly Range: $34.66-$36.40

Hiring Hourly Range: $38.22-$40.13

Combined Cycle Technician III

Hiring Hourly Range: $42.14-$44.24

Job Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support shift Senior/Foreman in competently operating a combined cycle generating facility in conformance with facility's Power Purchase Agreements, Operating Agreements, plant procedures, environmental regulations and safety procedures with minimal guidance or assistance. Keep Senior/Foreman fully informed of plant operating status, unusual conditions, and faulty equipment.

  • Competently maintain/repair a combined cycle generating facility and all associated auxiliary and support equipment with minimal guidance or assistance. Perform overall plant maintenance, preventive and corrective as individual qualifications allow.

  • Following satisfactory completion of required training, handle hazardous material/waste as required.

  • Learn and apply safe, effective use of hand tools, precision equipment and specialized test equipment used in maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of plant equipment.

  • Complete and maintain first aid and CPR certification.

  • Adhere to spill prevention and emergency response procedures.

  • Communicate detailed status of plant conditions to fellow Combined Cycle Technicians at shift turnover.

  • Perform water chemistry analysis on various plant water systems. Ensure water chemistry is within proper control ranges. Make adjustments to water chemistry, as needed, by controlling chemical feed and/or blowdown rates.

  • Use computerized maintenance management system (Asset Suite) to manage inventory, work management and procurement efforts. Display a proficiency in using the system consistent with established procedure.

  • Operation of fluid valves, as required to maintain proper system operation and mechanical isolation. Operation of electric circuit breakers, as required to maintain proper system operation and electrical isolation.

  • Operate/maintain water purification system in accordance with OEM and plant procedures. Monitor demineralized water to ensure quality is within acceptable limits.

  • Diagnose cause of plant equipment malfunctions or failures.

  • Read, understand and comply with all regulatory procedures and facility safety programs. Maintain adherence to all plant environmental permits.

  • Work shift hours, overtime, and irregular hours as needed to support reliable operation of the facility. From time to time, working hours will be determined on short notice, based on needs of the facility.

  • Perform general plant housekeeping. Maintain the cleanliness of all areas of the plant and control room, or other housekeeping duties as assigned.

  • Maintain plant security in conformance with site procedures.

  • Perform Collateral Duties in conformance with Collateral Duty Program, as assigned by Plant Management.

  • Adhere to and demonstrate compliance with appropriate electric utility industry regulatory requirements. Attain knowledge and remain knowledgeable of development in regulations, laws, standards and best practices applicable to the functional area including, but not limited to, Standards of Conduct, Environmental, Employment Law, NERC Reliability Standards and Safety. Must be familiar with, and comply with, all aspects of Corporate Policy C-54, Compliance.

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training

  • A High School diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Associate degree in a related discipline; or equivalent power plant operations and maintenance experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • Successfully Complete Operator Qualification Program

  • Demonstrates knowledge of all facets of power plant operations/maintenance.

  • Capable of writing operating/maintenance procedures, work requests, and purchase requisitions.

  • Demonstrate the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.

  • Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings, technical manuals and P&ID's. Write routine reports, and solve practical problems.

  • Must clearly communicate tasks and needs (both verbally and in writing).

  • Demonstrates basic computer literacy.

  • Eight (8) years of relevant experience required.

NOTE : The above requirements describe the experience and education qualifications for the Combined Cycle Technician IV. Those with less experience will be hired at the level I, II or III.
