Work within Contractor Safety Management Program for the enterprise and provide strategic direction to improve contractor safety performance.
Manage complicated relationships and conversations with the contractors in Transmission, Distribution, Vegetation management, civil and helicopter operations.
Lead and drive a cross-functional organization across the enterprise and external parties (i.e. vendors, other utilities and regulators) to improve contractor safety.
Research and evaluate Contractor Safety Management Program’s impact to the organization and continually look for opportunities of improvement; implement an innovative and strategic approach in driving these changes to reduce serious injuries.
Evaluate contractor incidents and observations and determine strategies to proactively improve performance.
Assure departmental collaboration and partner with related areas, (i.e. cause evaluators, safety advisors, environmental leads, and industrial hygienists).
Provide consultative services to all levels of management and safety professionals within the various SCE Organizational Units (OUs) as well as external parties (i.e. vendors, other utilities and regulators)
Oversee and administer field reviews of contractor safety in collaborations with OUs and contractors.
Ensure effective implementation of safety projects, programs and initiatives.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Seven years of experience in field construction, maintenance, or operation-related transmission, substation, distribution, vegetation management and/or experience related to industrial safety and/or contractor safety.
Two years of experience assuring safe work practices with contractor work forces.
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business, technical area of study or related field.
One year of utility experience in high voltage electric and/or vegetation management operations.
Certified Safety Professional.
Project management certification.
Experience in the field performing analysis, consulting, and providing recommendations.
Develop, assist, or make presentations to all levels of management.
Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
