South Jersey Industries Oracle Database Administrator in Folsom, New Jersey
Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced and energetic Oracle Database Administrator to help with our data operations. The individual in this position must develop and automate advanced ETL processes to retrieve or provide data to and from different sources. A successful candidate must have excellent troubleshooting abilities, problem solving, and analytical skills, and must be able to work closely with various stakeholders to provide proficient data stack support to the business. It will be imperative for this individual to quickly gain the confidence and respect of our business partners by demonstrating an in-depth understanding of our systems.
Manage Oracle databases through multiple product life cycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, ensure optimal levels of performance, availability, and security.
Provide 24x7 on-call support for critical production systems.
Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
Develop and maintain backup and recovery solutions for all Oracle databases
Research, analyze, and recommend technical solutions; create architectural documentation describing proposed solutions
Work closely with business and vendor to tune and troubleshoot system issues
Provides second level of technical support for all systems and software components as assigned
Install, configure, and maintain Oracle database environments
Create stored procedures, views, tables, and indexes
Assist in performance tuning SQL and work with developers as needed
Troubleshoot and respond to business-critical data requests as needed
Participate and effectively communicate in meetings to help translate business requirements into technical solutions
Participate in audit requests as needed from both internal and external auditors
Deploy database change scripts provided by internal developers and third-party vendors
Leads and participates in efforts to implement database updates to include critical patches, upgrades, and new releases
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field or and Five (5) years of relevant experience or;
Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience.Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Strong knowledge of backups, restores, and disaster recovery
Rock solid ability to code and manage SQL including stored procedures, views, indexes, and performance optimization
Experience managing ETL processes that load and transform high volumes of data
Display advanced T-SQL skills in writing complex queries for reports and ad-hoc analysis
Comfortable in a support/debugging role
Understanding and experience with the Software Development Life Cycle
Display a passion for learning new relevant technologies
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with systems teams
Ability to work under pressure and to independently handle multiple projects and deadlines
