South Jersey Industries Compensation Lead in Folsom, New Jersey

Position Summary

In an important role within the Total Rewards team, you will be assisting to drive compensation plans for those innovators and pioneers at South Jersey Industries.Reporting to the Head of Total Rewards, participate in the design and support the implementation and communication of the Company’s executive and broad-based compensation strategy, plans, policies and programs to ensure alignment with overall business strategy and external market. Work closely with the SJI Compensation team to advance strategic projects, enhance programs, streamline operations, and strengthen employees’ experience.

Primary Responsibilities

Compensation Benchmarking and Competitive Analysis

  • Manage the annual benchmarking process and tools, including identifying the best survey partners for the business while leveraging existing contracts/relationships

  • Assist with the completion of compensation surveys, dashboards and other ad-hoc analyses

  • Review new and emerging compensation technology solutions to aid in compensation analysis and design

  • Lead competitive analysis projects – determining the strategy for gathering and synthesizing market and internal data, creating dynamic models to assess the impact of design decisions and developing persuasive presentations to influence key stakeholders

  • In partnership with HRBP’s review open positions against compensation market data

  • Identify and complete annual and other practice-based surveys to obtain market intelligence on the practices of our competitors

Special Projects

  • Support special projects including Workday Advanced Comp and Total Rewards Module/functionality implementation and integrations with pay data vendors.

  • Assist in the development of other recognition/compensation plans including Employee Recognition programs and Sales Incentive Programs.

Compensation Committee Meetings

  • Responsible for supporting the preparation of Board meeting materials

  • Prepare compensation assessments, recommendations and related analysis for the Company’s broad-based and executive populations

Compensation Programs

  • Perform comprehensive data analysis, drawing conclusions from findings and making recommendations for change.

  • Participate in the evaluation, analysis and design of our company’s executive compensation programs

  • Support the development and updating of HR portal content and employee communications

  • Prepare annual compensation statements and tally sheets

Proxy/External Reporting

  • Responsible for supporting the preparation of the CD&A (Compensation Discussion & Analysis) within the Company's annual proxy statement as well as related compensation and benefits disclosures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Economics, Finance, Business, Human Resources or related degree.

  • 8 years’ work experience in HR, compensation, finance, or consulting, to include 5 years’ experience in Compensation and/or related project management

  • Experience in writing job descriptions, job evaluation, market pricing and pay line analyses.

  • Experience in a consultative role within HR and across the business, including various functions and levels of employees, including executives

  • Experience with annual bonus and long-term incentive programs.

  • Experience in FLSA and other compensation regulations.

  • Advanced level skill in Excel and proficiency in other Microsoft software (to include Word, Access and PowerPoint).

  • Demonstrated analytical skills as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks, effective prioritization, attention to detail, and flexibility.

  • Strong interpersonal skills that include effective communications, writing skills and teamwork. Ability to work with managers and associates.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • CCP or related certification will be a plus

  • Experience in HRIS systems and ad hoc reporting. Knowledge of WorkDay desirable.

  • Experience with sales incentive programs and plan design.
