Omaha Public Power District Electrical Engineer I (Substation) in Elkhorn, Nebraska

As an Electrical Engineer I specializing in Substation Engineering at Omaha Public Power District, you will play a crucial role in the design, analysis, and maintenance of our substation facilities. You will collaborate with a dynamic team of engineers and professionals to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our electrical substations. This role offers an exciting opportunity for growth and career development within a cutting-edge industry.

  • Perform analysis or diagnostic evaluations on minor systems based on education and within engineering discipline.

  • Under technical direction, position provides the requisite project management, design engineering, permitting, procurement management, and closeout for the construction of additions and modifications to the District's substations to ensure the safe, reliable, and economic transformation and delivery of electric power to meet system and customer load requirements.

  • Accountable for a cursory understanding of all applicable governmental, Code, Industry standards, internal procedures, reliability standards and internal policies.

  • Accountable for safety, reliability, operability, and economy of assigned projects.

    Qualifications

Required:

  • Four (4) year Bachelor of Science degree in (Structural/ Civil / Electrical) Engineering degree (ABET-accredited degree).

  • Basic oral and written communications skills.

  • Solid quantitative skills with the ability to analyze data and report results.

  • Basic understanding of the utility industry.

  • Maintain cognizance of emerging industry operating experience.

  • Demonstrated capability to work in a team environment while completing independent tasks and assignments.

  • A valid driver's license.

Desired:

  • Engineering Internship / Coop experience

  • Engineer in Training

  • Familiarity and experience in AutoDesk (CAD, Inventor, Vault), Bentley MicroStation

  • Demonstrated capabilities of researching, decision making, and presenting to a diverse audience.

  • Advanced MS Office Professional Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint).

  • Awareness of NESC, OSHA, ASCE, IEEE, etc.

Salary Grade: S3

Minimum: $77,958

Midpoint: $97,448
