Eversource Energy Manager, GIS, CT (Hybrid) in East Berlin, Connecticut

This is a hybrid role.  The first three months arefulltimein the office.

The Manager, GIS, is responsible for leading the team of employees in maintaining the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) models for Electric Operations. The electric distribution GIS model is the source for downstream operating systems, including network management system (NMS) and distribution management system (DMS) and this role is responsible for ensuring that the current GIS technology is properly leveraged to manage the records of the installed assets.

This Manager also works with the Manager, GIS Engineering, and the GIS Supervisors to plan and assign the activities of GIS editors and analysts. The position is responsible for identifying best practices and implementing change management to improve and standardize GIS processes, collaborating with Engineering, Operations, Customer Care, IT and other stakeholders.

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as Manager responsible for completing performance evaluations and facilitating the evaluations.
  • Designs, implements, and manages the workflow for creating and maintaining GIS information as well as GIS Standards and Procedures. Work and process flows will be documented and revised with future changes.
  • Accountable for the accuracy of the GIS models and uses dashboards and metrics for quality control to assure accuracy. Develop and execute corrective actions to close data accuracy gaps.
  • Prepares technical specifications and evaluates proposals relative to “outside services” mapping requirements. Collaborates with Customer Care, Legal, Regulatory, and other stakeholders to develop processes and standard submittal formats for sharing construction plans and land base updates.
  • Responsible for managing department budget and resources
  • Coordinate with Grid Management and Distribution Dispatch organizations to address any gaps between GIS and the downstream operations systems.
  • Responsible for knowledge management and knowledge coordination for the direct reports, so they are equipped to pursue their role effectively in the process.
  • Maximize the performance of the GIS system to meet operational and engineering needs of the Company. Support work management and distribution design tools, by identifying GIS model changes and enhancements and developing priorities and plans to address in collaboration with IT and Operations.
  • Responsible for identifying training needs, developing performance goals and providing personnel development opportunities for direct reports.
  • Resolves employee issues and concerns in a fair and timely manner and creates a Safe Work Environment supporting exchange of ideas and opinions.
  • Prioritizes work assignments; sets and monitors goal performance.
  • Provides feedback, coaching and discipline when necessary to employees.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Requires well-rounded understanding of technologies, principles and processes used in GIS Engineering.
  • Requires extensive knowledge of electric systems and infrastructure, operations and processes. Ability to think and act analytically; apply knowledge and skills to respond to operational challenges.
  • Change management skills are required, including the ability to anticipate challenges and develop tactics to overcome them.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes and manage cross-company team, and information to achieve desired end state. Must be capable of efficiently interacting with all levels of the Company.
  • Strong leadership skills, displays initiative, holds other accountable, accepts responsibility, and makes sound decisions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Engineering, Information Technology, or technology-centric program or related discipline; or equivalent experience. Master’s degree is desirable.

Experience :

Minimum of 10 years of electric and/or gas utility distribution and/or field service design/installation or related technical experience is required. Design and maintenance of GIS databases is required. Supervisory experience is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program.  Theannualsalary range for this positionis$144,000to$160,000, plus incentive.  Salary iscommensuratewith your experience.  Check out the career site for an overview of our benefits.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
