JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
Individual will participate in the maintenance, support, development and enhancement of real-time IT systems and applications in support of Electric Transmission and/or Distribution Operations at Eversource.
Assignments include some or all of the following: SCADA data and display maintenance, D200/D20MX data concentrator configuration maintenance, SCADA data interface support (related to OSIsoft PI Historian, Outage Management, etc.), implementation, testing and troubleshooting of RTUs (remote terminal units) and other field devices that communicate with SCADA in conjunction with field engineers.
The individual will work closely with operations to analyze business/technical needs and related issues to formulate and develop or purchase new and/or modified computer programs/systems; create revisions to existing programs, systems and procedures and use appropriate tools to troubleshoot and correct deficiencies; and/or, reconcile user requirements with existing and/or projected computer capacity, capabilities and performance.
Experience in real-time operations support involving applications such as Energy Management Systems (EMS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and RTU protocols (DNP3, Harris, L&G, Modbus) is a plus.
Experience with distributed technologies, relational databases and knowledge of infrastructure technology (Windows server 2008-2016, Windows 7/10, Active Directory, IT Network/Security, etc.), as it relates to Real Time System Infrastructure is a plus. Qualified candidates with experience in SCADA/EMS/DMS product suite from GE Grid Solutions (formerly Alstom Grid) will be given preference.
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
Experience: Minimum of (1) year related work experience is required for the level 1 position. Exceptional analytical skills required. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong customer focus, team membership skills and oral/written communications skills. A proven track record of producing quality products to predetermined standards and specifications plus a desire to learn and apply new skills are required.
Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role. If employed, you will be given an Emergency Restoration assignment. This means you may be called to assist during an emergency outside of your normal responsibilities, work hours and location.
