Job Summary

  • Leads, maintains, and builds a team within a business unit (BU) focused on improved customer rela-tions and satisfaction levels through strategies that will optimize the value of customers' energy costs, with a corresponding increase in the Corporation's revenue. Establishes strategies, direction and targets for the team(s) balancing the Company's goals with customer requirements. Provides a cross-functional focus for work groups to improve Company processes and cost effectiveness. Continually assesses staff assignments, projects and work loads in allocating and maximizing Company resources. Span of control (7/08): approximately =3 jobs & <10 FTEs (direct & second- level).

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for on-going operation of group within a BU; allocates and manages resources to maintain assigned customer contact.

  • Performs or guides & ensures the accomplishment of the following core supervisory functions for a group within a BU: planning, organizing, directing the performance of ongoing activities and/or special assignments, staffing (employee selection / coaching / training & performance manage-ment), coordinating, reporting & budgeting.

  • Develops, prioritizes, communicates and implements team and individual goals and objectives consistent with those of the BU; solicits staff input in the developmental process

  • Manages cross-functional focus of the BU, ensuring that customer and Company needs and ex-pectations are appropriately aligned through various processes.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related field, and 5+ years of job-relevant experience

Other Qualifications


  • MBA or other applicable post-graduate degree

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer or Certified Energy Manager

  • 1+ year(s) in a 'lead worker', project management or supervisory capacity.

Other Requirements

  • Working knowledge of electrical, fluids and air plant distribution systems, as well as the control system for manufacturing systems.

  • Working knowledge of electrical distribution systems, financial and economic analysis, customer enduse technologies, and customer relations.

  • Promotes an atmosphere conducive to the open exchange of new ideas, and alternatives to orthodox approaches.

  • Motivates through 'leading by example,' coaching/mentoring and providing ongoing constructive feedback to subordinate staff; competent in systematically eliciting the best efforts & results from subordinate staff

  • Ability to conduct efficacious meetings & manage the meeting process with optimal results.

  • Copes with multiple demands from superiors, and/or subordinates & peers in a positive and evenhanded fashion; displays a calm demeanor under pressure.

  • Thorough orientation in 'customer satisfactiondriven' business units, and the ability to plan, organize, and manage with a Total Customer Satisfaction (TQS) focus.

  • Analytical & problem solving skills consistent with the ability to identify key issues from a broad range of alternatives, and recommend optimal solutions for various situations.

  • Ability to develop / coordinate crossfunctional work groups and projects, yielding optimal outcomes.

  • Broad understanding of power generation, transmission and distribution issues.

  • Communicates effectively (verbally & in writing) with individuals at all levels, inside and outside the Corporation.
